We're looking for a people-focused leader to help build our Splunk Lakehouse organization. You'll play a crucial role in delivering new capabilities to our Federated Analytics solution, extending Splunk's ability to search and analyze data wherever it resides. If you have a passion for strong technology leadership and thrive on the challenge of working on highly scalable systems that handle massive data volumes, this is the role for you.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a team of up to 10 software engineers, acting as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor. Focus on their professional development, ensure team continuity, and cultivate strong engineering practices and processes.
- Support organizational management in building a new team within a growing organization, including defining product ownership and responsibilities.
- Collaborate daily with Product Management, contributing to roadmap refinement with a customer-first approach, ensuring technical feasibility aligns with business objectives.
- Partner with technical leaders on architecture and system design for data engineering, actively contributing to architectural decisions and design processes.
- Coordinate team work and participate in integrating the final solution at the Lakehouse team level.
- Ensure transparent communication of team plans, obstacles, and progress.
Ideal Candidate:
- Has 2+ years experience leading engineering teams working on large-scale data pipelines and/or highly available and reliable distributed systems.
- Has 6+ years of hands-on technical experience developing customer-facing products within small and large organizations. Experience in both startup and larger company environments is a strong plus.
- Possesses a broad understanding of cloud development technologies, data engineering technologies, and industry trends for enterprise-scale, distributed data systems.
- Exhibits a strong technical aptitude, a genuine interest in technology, and a desire for continuous learning.
- Has worked within geographically distributed organizations, across different time zones and cultures.
- Maintains excellent organizational skills and provides clear, transparent communication regarding team plans, challenges, and roadblocks.
- Continuously seeks ways to improve team efficiency and contribute to organizational goals.
- Constantly thinks about how to improve the working experience and foster a fun working environment within the team.
Education
- BS/MS in Computer Science, a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
