Site Reliability Engineer

Meet the Team:
What you’ll do
- Develop and deploy software that will help drive improvements towards the availability, performance, efficiency, and security of Splunk’s services. Technologies include DNS, Cloud Connectivity, Load Balancing (IPVS, L4, L7), API Gateways, IP address management (IPAM), VPN and TLS infrastructure.
- Work with cloud providers to integrate their networking products into our ecosystem. Build a control plane to scale and secure Kubernetes deployments and their networking requirements on various cloud computing platforms (Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure).
- Commit to automation. Passionately embrace and master new technologies to help automate routine tasks and free up time for innovation. You will be working with a variety of languages used in systems programming like Go, Python, Terraform etc.
- Distributed systems programming. Work on and debug distributed systems like CDNs, Kubernetes, databases, traffic, data replication, etc.
- Knowledge of technical excellence. Use continuous delivery, testing, and security standard methodologies.
- Operational excellence. Make decisions based on numbers rather than assumptions. If an issue arises, you strive to be alerted before our customers notice.
- Keeping calm and carrying on. Capable of brainstorming a product outage, skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, spotting anomalous system behavior, and determining root cause of incidents.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Experience deploying production cloud networking and infrastructure solutions while adhering to industry-standard DevOps principles.
- Experience handling SaaS and/or On-prem applications for a large customer base.
- Experience with one or more of the public cloud providers i.e. AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience coding with Python/Go.
- Experience with CICD (Gitlab, Jenkins and others) and automation (Terraform or equivalent) technologies and tools.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers on the team, provide technical direction, perform design/code reviews, and champion engineering best practices.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $146,400.00 - 201,300.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $131,760.00 - 181,170.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $117,120.00 - 161,040.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
