Description

The Lab Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for crafting, building, and maintaining demo environments within public clouds for the purpose of creating product marketing demonstrations and showcasing Splunk products to customers.
This role involves collaborating with the technical marketing team to ensure product demo solutions are robust, scalable, and meet the company's testing requirements. The engineer will also support the development and deployment of innovative lab architectures and tackle issues as they arise. In this role, you will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, with experience in large data platforms and familiarity with security and observability practitioner personas and use cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable demo lab environments focused on public cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to understand demo requirements and build tailored environments that highlight key features and benefits.
  • Set up and configure cloud-based resources, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and security components, to ensure flawless operation of demo labs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for demo environments: setup guides, user manuals, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide technical support during customer workshops and marketing events, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for participants.
  • Continuously improve demo environments based on feedback from collaborators and advancements in technology.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and standard methodologies to ensure our demo labs remain innovative and competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience designing, building and supporting cloud-based infrastructures (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in configuring cloud services (virtual machines, networking, storage, and security components).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and the ability to implement automation processes in a cloud environment.
  • Practical experience with data processing platforms (e.g., Splunk, Hadoop, Spark) for data presentation and analysis.
  • Understanding scalability challenges and procedures for large data workloads (including cost optimization and performance tuning).
  • Working knowledge of security requirements (IAM, security policies, encryption, etc.).
  • Understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting concepts (e.g., CloudWatch, Splunk Observability Cloud, Syslog).
  • Ability to craft and configure demo environments for marketing presentations and client workshops.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues in cloud environments.
  • Ability to translate sophisticated technical concepts into clear, understandable language for non-technical collaborators (customers, partners).
  • Openness to feedback and continuous improvement of demo environments.
  • Proactive in keeping up with and testing new technologies, solutions, and methodologies in cloud computing / DevOps / security / observability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in data engineering, information security, cloud services, or software testing.
  • Hands-on experience with Splunk solutions or similar industry platforms a plus.
