Head of Marketing, Japan

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative Japan Marketing Lead to drive our marketing strategy, and foster a culture of continuous innovation, growth and learning. You are an excellent collaborator and share our Splunk values for being part of an amazing Village contributing to the success of Splunk. 
You are a prime, strategic marketing business partner to Japan business leader and cross functional leadership. You will be responsible for strategizing the marketing strategy and leading a team of marketing talents in Japan for in-country activation. 
You are someone who sees challenges as opportunities for growth and are pivotal in scaling our marketing efforts to support our business growth and improve our brand presence. 
You will define Japan marketing strategy in close consultation with Japan leadership and APAC leadership to lead and deliver a robust marketing strategy with impactful programs that generate marketing pipeline, drive Splunk awareness and reputation in Japan. 
You will be responsible for field marketing, partner marketing, digital marketing, campaign marketing, PR and customer advocacy programs in Japan to deliver highly targeted, multi-channel touches across the customer journey.

Core Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
  • You will define and lead in-country go-to-market marketing programs/initiatives that are in line with country and regional strategic priorities to drive impact to Japan business for marketing pipeline creation and progression, brand awareness and account engagement; and ensuring there is strong alignment with Japan leader and cross functional leadership.
  • You will evaluate value propositions of global marketing programs for relevance for Japan and have them adapted for in-country activation that drives local customer engagement and marketing pipeline generation. 
Cross Functional Collaboration and Communication:
  • You will drive cross functional collaboration working with Japan sales management, cross functional leadership and teams to deliver marketing strategy that grows pipeline and achieves marketing performance.
  • You will collaborate across APAC regional, global corporate and in-country teams to deliver exceptional results. 
  • You will present/share marketing insights and strategies to cross functional teams and stakeholders, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration. 
Data Driven Decision Making
  • You have a strong ability to synthesize marketing data and insights, seek feedback from Japan and APAC leadership; understand shifting competitive landscape to deliver Japan marketing strategy with clear investment prioritization.
  • You will distill marketing program outcomes and learnings to continually refine and adjust program activation plan to enhance results, using data to inform marketing strategies.
Team Development
  • You will lead and inspire marketing talents in the team, fostering a collaborative environment where they can further grow and develop their expertise.
  • You will lead and collaborate with marketing talents in the team to co-create an integrated marketing plan comprising impactful programs across field events, tradeshows, flagship events, partner marketing, digital, campaign marketing, PR and customer advocacy. 
  • You will foster a growth mindset with the marketing talents in the team through coaching and mentorship.  
  • You will encourage team members to take calculated risks, learn from failures, and celebrate successes while sharing insights.
Marketing Performance
  • You will own marketing metrics for marketing pipeline, leads growth, executive engagement and awareness.
  • You are accountable for marketing program performance results, measurement, tracking and business reviews. 
  • You will share insights of marketing performance, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration across Splunk teams.

Requirements
  • 10+ years experience in marketing Security and/or Observability solutions with sound knowledge of the competitive landscape in Japan. 
  • 7+ years of team management experience supporting, growing, and motivating a team of talents; fostering a positive and collaborative environment where they can do their best work.
  • Highly skilled in developing and driving a holistic, integrated Japan marketing plan with various marketing disciplines that is aligned to business priorities and marketing goals that drive pipeline generation, customer/prospect engagement and awareness.
  • Strong experience as Japan Marketing Lead partnering with Japan and APAC leadership, as well as global marketing teams to leverage joint capabilities to lead and drive impact to Japan across an integrated plan encompassing field marketing programs, executive programs, partner marketing programs and digital, campaign marketing and PR.
  • Demonstrated success delivering marketing metrics with measureable impact to the business. 
  • Excellent leadership capability and effectiveness working collaboratively and cross functionally:
    • Highly effective in working closely with Japan leadership and cross functional teams, including joint planning and execution, driving disciplined marketing focus as a strategic business partner
    • Experienced in marketing performance reviews with sales management 
  • Skilled in collaborating with various marketing functional teams at global corporate, regional (APAC) and country (Japan) level.
  • Strong ability to continually optimize marketing programs for efficiency and performance. 
  • Adept in analysis of marketing performance data and drawing insights for management sharing and team learning to improve program performance.
  • Agility with navigating ambiguous situations and adaptable to changing business requirements in a dynamic environment.
  • Fluent English and Japanese, both written and spoken.
  • Possess resilience, high degree of resourcefulness and creativity in problem solving.
