The Director of the Custom Applications Group is responsible for:

  • Defining and adhering to best practices for code development within the in-house developed custom application set, and in-house developed manufacturing execution system, including Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL objects in a MS Windows environment
  • Defining, implementing and maintaining custom code or vendor management for outsourced work on the company’s website
  • Adhering to predefined SLAs for HelpDesk tickets regarding user incidents and requests assigned to the Custom Applications Group
  • Collaborating with other IT team members outside of the Custom Applications Group, and at all sites on joint IT projects as required
  • Providing team/project status updates to IT/corp management
  • Gathering requirements for custom application needs from global internal customers, developing solutions that address global requirements, obtaining approval/prioritization for the project, creating a project plan, developing software, guiding user acceptance testing, and seeing the project through to implementation and usage.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study is plus, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience working with custom application development in a manufacturing environment
  • Well-versed in manufacturing processes
    • Bills of material
    • Production routings
    • Production standards
    • Engineering Change Notices (ECN) Process
    • Quality Management
    • Stockroom functionality / Kanban
  • Experience developing and managing developers in a Visual Studio/MVC environment
  • Experience coding with C#, JQuery, AJAX, and Javascript
  • Expert understanding of relational databases
  • Experience with the Agile Software Development methodology
  • Experience with source code control
  • Experience with barcode data collection systems and technology
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing data systems, and business intelligence tools and concepts
    • Experience with any of the following is a plus:
      • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
      • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
      • RedHat Linux
      • Oracle PL/SQL
      • Microsoft SQL
      • XML and/or other API interfaces
      • Postgres
      • MS SQL Server development applications (i.e.: SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS)
      • Power BI
      • Genealogy in an as-built manufacturing environment
      • Labor data collection in a production environment (direct/indirect labor)
    • Experience developing software functional and design specifications (including business logic flow diagramming, user interface layouts, and test plans
    • Experience managing software development projects and application implementation projects
      • Project Management certification is a plus
    • Experience with introducing and implementing new applications to users, including process gap analysis, prototyping activities, development of training materials, providing end-user training (on-site and/or remotely)
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
    • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
    • Able to work one-on-one or in group settings with individuals of varying technical abilities and understanding

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  Must be able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods; able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis; able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
