The Sr Sustaining Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership for electrical aspects of sustaining engineering across products. Drive strategy for reliability, component lifecycle, and design improvements, while resolving the most complex issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions of the role are listed below. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

•             Define the global electrical validation strategy and technical benchmarks for all sustaining engineering programs.

•             Ensure electrical designs remain robust for long-term support, specifically regarding high-density server and tape library power architectures.

•             Lead the analysis of the most complex, high-business-impact field failures, guiding the team to systemic resolutions.

•             Oversee the lifecycle strategy for all PCBAs, setting the standards for Altium design protocols and documentation

•             Lead the overarching compliance strategy, acting as the primary interface with external certification bodies for Safety and EMC.

•             Coordinate with executive stakeholders to align electrical sustaining activities with broader business and financial goals.

•             Mentor engineers across all levels, shaping the technical direction and professional growth of the electrical team.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•             Establish long-term obsolescence management strategies for the entire product portfolio.

•             Drive major cross-functional initiatives to improve product reliability and reduce total cost of ownership.

•             Set the standards for component selection and BOM management to ensure maximum supply chain resilience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. •             10+ years of experience preferred

•             Expert level understanding of circuit behavior, signal integrity, power systems, and schematic design, with mastery in PCBA design tools such as Altium Designer preferred

•             Recognized technical leader with strong decision-making ability

•             Advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

•             Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills

EDUCATION

The following are minimum requirements below which candidates will not be considered.

•             B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer or similar).

Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our Boulder, CO office. Relocation assistance is not available. Only local candidates will be considered

Compensation: 125-145K/ year.  While this salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, a candidate’s actual salary will be competitive based on a variety of factors including the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
