Your Role
The Vice President of Human Resources reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and independently leads all aspects of SAS Human Resources. This critical role guides the organization to successfully lead and implement strategies across SAS. This role leads a team responsible for oversight to HR Business Partners, Compensation, Security and Emergency Services, Benefits, HR Systems, Recruiting, Talent Management and Organizational Development. The role is a key member of the SAS Senior Leadership Team. This role’s important impact on the company will be realized through the following responsibilities:

- Thought Leadership and Strategic Leadership: Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in all HR domains including assessment of best practices and adopt for the enterprise as appropriate. Develop unique and proactive HR strategies aligned with business goals and lead implementation plans to achieve them. Stay abreast of all HR strategies with external sources and bring forth trends which could impact the business.
- Key Leadership Team Member: Consult with senior executives to understand business requirements and challenges to develop workable solutions. Partner with key stakeholders to proactively understand workforce planning and forecasting needs. Own and work with the leadership team to update all related policies and HR procedures.
- Standards, Best Practices, and Management: Establish and standardize best practices for attracting, selecting, and retaining talent across the organization. Utilize data to effectively manage team priorities, recommend hiring strategies, and direct human capital investments. Develop and execute tools and programs that positively impact employee retention, including partnering with leaders to identify and address causes of attrition. Continuous process improvements and use of technologies to drive positive outcomes. Coach and develop the team to build a high-performing organization.
Required Experiences and Competencies:
To qualify for this role candidates must have the following:
- Master’s degree in human resources or business administration
- Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in managing and leading HR teams
- Aerospace and Defense industry experience strongly preferred
- SME of laws, practices, and protocols for HR approaches
- Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills, well-organized, with attention to detail
- Strategic, influential, and confident in building relationships at all levels
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of leadership (Executives, CEO/CFO/COO, Board of Directors, etc.)
- Analytical and capable of utilizing data and reports to assess complex information
- Proven team leader with significant executive presence
Though not immediately required, this position may eventually require the incumbent to obtain a security clearance up to the Top-Secret Level.
