Your Role
 
Our manufacturing team at Special Aerospace Services Flight Factory is critical to executing our mission, supporting technical work done in our field offices, and keeping our business running effectively. As an Assembly and Test Technician, you will ensure a quality product through robust assembly and test operations in this hands-on role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The candidate selected for this position will create and execute test and assembly plans for sub-systems in aerospace and defense programs with a wide range of complexity levels.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work from layout drawings, point-to-print wire lists, and wiring schematics
  • Install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies using soldering equipment or hand tools
  • Assembly of manufactured hardware kits to upper-level parts using hand tools and measurement gages
  • Apply necessary chemical compounds to hardware and assemblies
  • Use PPE (personal protection equipment) properly to prevent unexpected incidents
  • Read and work from assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and parts list
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner that meets or exceeds time standards
  • Work to production schedules and timelines
  • Perform duties in a safe, non-hazardous manner in compliance with safety standards
  • Maintaining a clean working area
  • Shipping and receiving of materials and products
How you will be rewarded:
 
The annual base salary range for this role is $40,000.00 - $55,000.00. Compensation depends on the candidate’s work experience, education/training, and related skills.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience in a related role
  • Proven work experience as an assembly technician or similar role
  • Good hand-eye coordination to construct small parts and pieces into a final product
  • The ability to use various hand tools to produce a final product
  • Ability to follow instructions and diagrams as delivered for each product
  • MUST have experience in Aerospace machining and assembly environment
  • Experience with AS9100 environment
  • Experience with wiring diagrams and cable harness assembly
  • Experience with soldering
  • Knowledge of and experience with MIL-spec practices
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication and reporting
  • Detail-oriented, observant, thorough, and precise in accomplishing all tasks
  • Demonstrated success in working with teams in manufacturing discussions
  • Working knowledge utilizing ERP and QMS systems, preferably JobBOSS and SimpleTrak (or equivalents)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • High school diploma and related training
Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior experience with precision machining and government contracts, ideally in aerospace and defense
  • CPI_J-STD-001H Certification with Space Addendum
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620D Certification with Space Addendum
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and tools 
  • Experience engaging with cross-functional teams including technicians, manufacturing engineers, process engineers, quality, production leads, supply chain process owners,
  • Experience participating in process improvement/innovation activities
