Your Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the breadth and depth of SAS’ delivery of products and services to U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) customers. The candidate will identify our customers’ most challenging needs and collaborate with SAS program managers and corporate leadership to bring the best capabilities and technologies to meet those needs. This position is focused on growing business as an industry performer, although the candidate may occasionally support SETA contractor business opportunities.
The candidate’s main responsibilities are in capture management, including:
- Opportunity identification, qualification, and strategy shaping
- Development of customer acquisition approach, analysis, strategy, and execution
- Relationship management with relevant government and industry representatives
- Teammate/supplier selection and relationship management
- Direct and intimate involvement in proposal strategy development, generation, and delivery
- Customer and competitor assessments; price-to-win analysis
- Business case analysis
- Participation in corporate strategic planning
The candidate will also represent SAS by participating in customer presentations, industry organizations, conferences, and panels. Travel for this position is expected to be 20-50%.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in a relevant field plus 10 years of experience in aerospace and defense
- Current, high-level relationships within a variety of DoD customers
- Thorough knowledge of current U.S. defense and intelligence markets and understanding of current DoD leadership, organizations, functions, and acquisition approaches
- Knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Government’s competitive acquisition process
- Successful experience with proposal and capture management—i.e., leading winning efforts
- Experience working on space, missile, and/or hypersonics programs
- Basic technical understanding of space, missile, and/or hypersonic systems and technologies and proven ability to make presentations about them to internal and external customers
- Experience training and leading a cross-functional team through a formal proposal process
- Track record of successful capture and pipeline management across multiple customers
- Experience building industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions, respond to, and win business with new and existing customers
- Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with leadership and technical staff
- Current and active Secret clearance and eligibility for upgrade
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. in a relevant field or M.B.A. and 20+ years of experience in aerospace and defense
- Detailed knowledge of the leadership, organization, functions, and acquisition approaches of various DoD components, such as combatant commands and the armed services R&D groups
- In-depth experience with U.S. Space Force, Air Force, DARPA, MDA, and/or other agencies
- Experience leading many successful proposal and capture efforts for DoD products/services
- Thorough technical understanding of space, missile, and hypersonic systems/technologies
- Proven ability to create and deliver compelling presentations to internal/external customers
- Experience in leadership positions on space, missile, and/or hypersonics programs
- Experience in large technical program management
- Experience in program planning, budgeting, workforce planning, risk management, and implementation of project processes and controls
- Experience transitioning prototypes to production or Programs of Record (PORs)
- Current and active Top Secret clearance and eligibility for SCI
