The role

SoFi is seeking an accounting manager, with an interest in valuation, to join its accounting team to help support the Chief Accounting Officer (“CAO”) and Controller. The role will focus on recurring valuation and measurement of our various financial instruments, investments and common stock. This role will report directly to the Controller.


What you’ll do:

  • Develop a strong understanding of ASC 820 and ASC 825 accounting principles
  • Manage the preparation and review of quarterly Valuation Committee materials
  • Review and approve valuation-related journal entries
  • Serve as point of contact for external auditors on valuation-related questions
  • Manage relationships with third-party valuation firms
  • Collaborate with the treasury department on derivative valuations
  • Review the valuation of the company’s common and preferred stock on at least a quarterly basis
  • Manage goodwill, intangible asset, and equity method investment impairment process
  • Understand and develop controls over the credit card CECL model
  • Review quarterly valuation of servicing assets, whole loans, and securitization related investments
  • Engage with Financial Reporting Director as needed on various valuation-related disclosures
  • Develop a working understanding of valuation best practices


What you’ll need:

  • Active CPA license
  • Big 4 accounting or valuation firm experience
  • Proficient writing skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • 5+ years of post-graduate working experience
  • Experience managing a team and interacting with senior leadership
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics 

Nice to have:

  • Financial services industry experience
  • Securitization experience
  • Ability to automate and simplify large datasets
  • Experience with Accounting ERPs
