The role

The Member team focuses on the holistic experience from the moment a member creates an account to when they are ready to make important decisions in their financial journey. We engage our members by providing the tools, content, and insights to get their money right and work collaboratively with other product teams to offer a unified and personalized experience on SoFi’s multi-platform apps. The Member team is looking for a Staff Product Designer who will focus on inventing the future of personal finance through personalization, artificial intelligence, growth and communications platform, and contextual content. As a design leader, you will work across SoFi’s lines of businesses including Money, Invest, Relay, Lending, and much more to build the best-in-class platform for our members. As a member of the SoFi Design team, you will work closely with other designers, researchers, product and engineering teams to build a world-class user experience, and bring consistency and simplicity to the SoFi member experience. You are passionate about design details, problem solving and think in systems, not just screens.

We created student loan refinancing, addressing the biggest financial challenge of a new generation through a modern approach to lending and personal finance. Next we expanded our products and services across loans, wealth management, and insurance. What you’ll do:

  • Design product features from start-to-finish, from the early sketching and concept phases to final pixel-perfect files that are ready to ship 

  • Develop user-centric design solutions based on research, member insights, and industry best-practices

  • Create design specs, documentation, and presentations to clearly communicate design intent and solutions 

  • Spark fresh ideas that are infused in our Company culture and our products at SoFi

  • Work with research and product design partners to drive a continual cycle of design iteration and improvements

  • Partner with engineers as they build and ship components

  • Foster a deep and rewarding collaboration with designers, engineers, PM, marketing and other teams in the company to evangelize the design system

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years of experience designing and successfully shipping multi-platform products and features from start to finish

  • Expert knowledge of best practices in UI/UX and information architecture across iOS, Android and responsive web

  • Expert understanding of current design and prototyping tools (Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Abstract) to explore and convey decisions

  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills with an eye for accessibility, localization, and motion 

  • Strong time management, planning and collaboration skills 

  • Excellent understanding of how to use data analytics, user testing and research to iterate quickly in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment 

  • Proven track record for delivering end-to-end solutions from initial concepts to measurable impact

  • Extensive experience with prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions

  • Experience presenting work to senior leadership and advocating for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers

  • Strong presentation skills, with an ability to effectively communicate design solutions to designers, engineerings, product, marketing, business and executive leadership 

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence

  • A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design

Nice to have:

  • Experience working on consumer engagement, growth, and social experiences

  • Experience working with remote teams and stakeholders

  • A Masters/MFA in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience
