The role

SoFi's Risk Management team has responsibility for ensuring growth in lending and other member related activities are consistent with the company's risk appetite. The team holistically manages enterprise, credit, deposit products, fraud prevention, portfolio management, infrastructure, and business operating risks. In addition, Risk Management directly manages enterprise partners, ensures strong compliance with regulations, acts as a multi-layered second line of defense in oversight of business operations, and works to ensure risk policies enable a member-first experience.

Senior Manager, Risk Management - Vendor and Servicing Risk will have responsibility for partnering with SoFi Business Units (Personal Lending, Home Loans, Invest, Money, Protect, Member, Student Lending), Capital Markets, Finance, Operations, Information Security, Privacy, Legal, Compliance and the other Risk Management teams to develop long, mid and short-term vendors/suppliers and partners strategies and then execute against those strategies. In addition, the role will develop and execute the company's servicing risk process.

Key oversight domains include:

  • New vendor process governance

  • Oversight of existing vendors

  • Vendor risk assessment

  • Servicing risk management and controls

  • Vendor Risk and Servicing risk policies

  • Due diligence assessment and controls

  • Contract structuring and procurement

  • Invoice and payment control

  • Vendor termination process

In addition, this role is responsible for the design and implementation of vendor and servicing risk management effective control monitoring and reporting for SoFi executives, including CRO, and Internal Audit.

What you’ll do:

  • Innovate... we need you to bring your brightest ideas to build and administer full cycle for vendor and servicing management processes and incorporate best practices and innovative solutions.

  • Data Driven… architect robust management monitoring reports and analytically based assessment policies aligning regulatory controls with Business Units needs and capabilities. 

  • Challenge Status Quo… build-out comprehensive vendor and servicing risk framework that delivers on industry best practices, drives meaningful strategic insight, and provides a path from good-to-great for competency gaps.

  • Effective Challenge… oversee the development of corporate vendor management that fuses oversight, strategy, and effective challenge to ensure policies and processes are being adhered to by end users.

  • Control the Risk… Develop and oversee risk-based periodic assessment of vendors by performing continuous monitoring, including ongoing due diligence, performance monitoring, onsite visits, sample-based testing, customer complaints and contract termination, and escalating issues as necessary to Enterprise Risk Committee. 

  • Risk Controllership... Independently review and challenge new and existing vendor contracts negotiation and payments. 

  • Be a Risk SME… Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced measurement tools, implementing vendor management office practices and being a point of contact and process owner to avoid multiple contracts with suppliers and partners.

  • Drive Performance Outcomes... Design effective domain risk controls that ensure risks are proactively identified, actively managed, clearly quantified, and volatility risk measured. Analyze potential servicing and vendor risk gaps, identify root causes and promote continuous improvement processes.

  • Build the Bench... Be the inspiration for our rapidly growing team, promoting best practices. Share your broad experience across the organization.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in vendor and servicing risk management, and risk analytics.

  • Solid understanding in negotiating and managing agreements, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree in an analytical discipline
