SoFi's Risk Management team has responsibility for ensuring growth in lending and other member related activities are consistent with the company's risk appetite. The team holistically manages enterprise, credit, deposit products, fraud prevention, portfolio management, infrastructure, and business operating risks. In addition, Risk Management directly manages enterprise partners, ensures strong compliance with regulations, acts as a multi-layered second line of defense in oversight of business operations, and works to ensure risk policies enable a member-first experience.
Senior Manager, Risk Management - Risk Appetite will have responsibility for partnering with SoFi Business Units (Personal Lending, Home Loans, Invest, Money, Protect, Member, Student Lending), Capital Markets, Finance, Operations, Information Security, Privacy, Legal, Compliance and the other Risk Management teams to lead intra and inter department relationships and be responsible for delivering a comprehensive Risk Framework for the company and for developing methodologies to establish Risk Appetite and consequently the RAS/Risk Appetite Statements with respect to firm-wide strategic objectives.
Key oversight domains and tasks include:
Collect business strategy and business objectives
Partner with finance to ensure KPIs and performance targets are established based on expected performance
Identify risks that can drive variability in performance
Establish KRIs and risk tolerances for critical risks
Build monitoring systems
Develop, approve and monitor Risk Appetite Statements
In addition, this role is responsible for the determination of the types and levels of risk to which SoFi is willing to be exposed in order to achieve the company's financial objective, providing monitoring, reporting and effective controls for SoFi executives, including CRO, Internal Audit and the Enterprise Risk Committee.

What you’ll do:
Innovate... we need you to bring your brightest ideas to build and administer full cycle for Risk Appetite Framework and Risk Appetite Statements, and incorporate best practices and innovative solutions.
Data Driven… architect robust management monitoring reports and analytically based assessment risk limits and tolerances aligned with business strategy.
Challenge Status Quo… build-out comprehensive policies and standards for SoFi's appetite for risk that delivers on industry best practices, drives meaningful strategic insight, and provides a path from good-to-great for competency gaps. In addition, continuously incorporate Risk Appetite culture to existing company's environment.
Effective Challenge… oversee the performance of corporate risk appetite statements, delivering work streams forward and ensuring that task owners deliver on their items.
Optimize… Make adjustments as needed to optimize the company's profitability. Work with stakeholders to adjust models used within risk as part of a continuous improvement process.
Risk Controllership... Independently review and challenge the KPIs, KRIs and other existing risk limits and tolerances, being able to explain their linkage to capital, earnings, limit setting, business strategy and the risk appetite process.
Be a Risk SME… Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced measurement tools, implementing risk appetite practices and assisting in the training and ongoing education of team members.
Drive Performance Outcomes... Design effective domain risk controls that ensure risks are proactively identified, actively managed, clearly quantified, and volatility risk measured. Prepare high quality presentation for diverse audience from company's executives to key support department.
Build the Bench... Be the inspiration for our rapidly growing team, promoting best practices. Share your broad experience across the organization.
What you’ll need:
10+ years of relevant experience in Risk Appetite measurements frameworks, including Strategic, Financial, Operational, Legal/Compliance and Reputational risks, and risk analytics.
Preferred: Advanced degree in an analytical discipline
