The Role

Our team at SoFi is looking for an experienced Senior Content Strategist to join our design systems team, and help shape the future of our financial apps and empower members to get their money right. That means simple-yet-sophisticated financial products and services like money management, invest, lending, financial advice and more. You will own the voice and tone for our products from conception through release to ongoing enhancements. As a member of the SoFi Design Systems team, you will play a strategic role in partnering with content strategists, product designers, researchers, our Product, Engineering and Marketing teams to build a world-class user experience, and help translate business and technical concepts as we drive toward a bold vision for our products and services. 

This role goes beyond just content strategy as you define guidelines and build a content playbook for SoFi that helps our members understand their finances holistically and make confident decisions. You will delve deep into the world of multiple members, understanding how they think and how they learn. Being a values-driven company where content has a true seat at the table as a strategic partner in developing trust with our users. 

What You'll Do:

  • Define and develop content frameworks, product narratives, and other deliverables that explain your recommendations and help people understand the practice of content strategy

  • Offer a content strategy perspective and contribute to the product and design process by influencing decisions across and within our financial products to improve the overall experience and ensure consistency in our brand voice and tone guidelines 

  • Actively drive, and develop SoFi’s content playbook by leveraging research, industry knowledge and user testing and making informed content decisions

  • Work with other content writers to maintain and evolve our brand voice and tone, content and UX guidelines as part of design systems and evangelize those resources across the company

  • Conduct competitive audits and present ideas for using content to achieve project goals

  • Write clear and concise content across multiple touch points (including labels, navigational elements, interface language, accessibility content, and product emails) for native mobile apps and responsive web products 

  • Help users navigate our platform and apps efficiently while delivering a relevant and personal experience 

  • Work with research, product owners, marketing and product design partners to drive a continual cycle of design system iteration and improvements

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s or greater degree in UX writing, design, user experience or a related field or equivalent training or experience

  • 5-7 years of experience writing user-facing content, including 2+ years specifically for Web or mobile

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a mastery of AP style and the confidence to know when to break the rules 

  • Solid understanding of people-centric user experience and interaction patterns

  • Analytical thinking about customer journeys and content flows 

  • Ability to independently plan and lead content strategy for large-scale projects including future-proof thinking

  • Expert in best practices in UI / UX and information architecture across iOS, Android and responsive web

  • Ability to communicate and advocate for the user and make a case for content

  • Ability to iterate quickly in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment with multiple stakeholders with strong project planning, time management, collaboration and presentation skills

  • Professional, positive and enthusiastic

  • Organized and detail-oriented 

  • Experience working with design tools such as Abstract, sketch and/or Figma

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence is a plus
