The Role

Our team at SoFi is looking for a Staff Product Designer to join our design team, and help shape the future of our financial apps by designing and building an end-to-end design system for our mobile and web apps. As a member of the SoFi Design team, you will work closely with other designers, researchers, and our Product and Engineering teams to build a world-class user experience, and bring consistency and simplicity to the SoFi member experience. You’re passionate about design details, problem solving and think in systems, not just screens. 

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the conceptualization, definition, and design of cross-platform features that drive recurring member engagement and growth

  • Create design specs and presentation documents

  • Drive alignment by working collaboratively with engineering, product, marketing, and business stakeholders

  • Present design solutions to senior and executive stakeholders

  • Collaborate with design leads for products outside of Member team and mentor junior designers

  • Work with research and product design partners to drive a continual cycle of design system iteration and improvements

  • Create the components for the system in collaboration with the product design team and business leaders

  • Document and help maintain usage guidelines and specs for components and patterns within design systems

  • Foster a deep and rewarding collaboration with designers, engineers, PM, marketing and other teams in the company to evangelize the design system

What You'll Need:

  • 8+ yrs experience successfully shipping products and features from start to finish

  • Expert knowledge of best practices in UI / UX and information architecture across iOS, Android and responsive web

  • Expert understanding of current design tools (Sketch, Abstract, Adobe Creative Suite, Invision)

  • Strong time management, planning, and collaboration skills

  • Strong understanding of how to use data analytics, user testing and research to inform and validate design decisions and focus on constant improvement

  • Strong presentation skills, able to effectively communicate design solutions to engineering, product, marketing, business, and executive leadership

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence

  • A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design
