We are seeking a Director of Data Science, Lending Products to join the Data Team at SoFi in our San Francisco headquarters. This is an exciting leadership role for someone to provide business insights and data science support for SoFi’s Lending Products and Business Units. At SoFi, we drive product prioritization and inform our business by developing a deep understanding of how our customers engage with products through landing, registration, conversion, engagement and churn metrics. Success of this role hinges on your technical aptitude, quantitative abilities, business acumen, and a deep understanding of financial services industry. You need to know how to plow through data with SQL/Python/R/Tableau. You need to treat stakeholders as partners. You are there from ideation to execution and know that we only succeed if we succeed together.
What you’ll do:
Lead a team of highly talented data scientists that own end-to-end product data science & analytics workflow including constructing and analyzing the funnel, developing reports/dashboards, extracting actionable insights & performing analyses, and driving experiments.
Partner with the Business Units to make data driven decisions to ship new features, analyze areas of opportunities for new products.
Work with Product Managers to identify opportunities, measure KPI’s to craft compelling stories, make logical recommendations and drive informed actions.
Partner with other core company functions such as Marketing, Risk, Operations, Pricing and Finance to build a testing strategy and roadmap.
Lead discussions about product performance, such as funnel conversion metrics, cohort behavior, and testing results for a large cross functional audience.
Act as a curator of data by defining, instrumenting, and tracking necessary analytics of our products through working cross functionally with Engineering and Product teams.
What you’ll need:
8-10 years of relevant experience in Financial Services analytics and decision science.
2-4 years of experience of leading a team.
Lending and credit card experience is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership across managing highly visibility projects without much guidance.
Intellectual curiosity and aptitude to pick up new technical skills.
High EQ with ability to influence outcomes and communicate technical content to general business audiences.
Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering or quantitative field
SQL, R, Python and Tableau
