The role

We are looking for eager software engineers excited to dive into one of the largest opportunities at SoFi and help drive the next generation of lending products. SoFi is trying to push the boundaries of lending and provide next-level products for our members, and we are seeking anyone with big ideas and a drive to help our customers secure financial stability. 

On our team, you will be in the middle of it all – designing new functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, as well as facilitating the productivity of the team,  continually growing as both an engineer and a leader. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, testing, deploying, monitoring and supporting mission critical systems. You’ll face and solve a wide range of challenges: technical, product, and operational, shaping your personal growth and career along the way. You will also be instrumental in planning the future of the product, assisting in the decision making process and design of both the system architecture as well as the customer experience.

A successful home loans platform is instrumental in the future and success of the company, and you have the opportunity to help shape and guide that future and exponentially grow the customer base of this product, as well as grow the Home Loans engineering team itself. SoFi is looking to expand our business opportunities, and we need talented individuals excited to lead the charge. 

What you’ll do:

We’re looking for someone to help us guide and lead the team who is responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering resilient and scalable code

  • Owning and ideating on technical solutions for product requirements and user stories for the team

  • Driving ideas for new initiatives and technologies in the Home Loans space

  • Becoming a domain expert on aspects of the Home Loans business

  • Leading communications with outside stakeholders in product marketing, operations, business, legal, and compliance on behalf of engineering.

  • Working in a fast-moving, highly-collaborative environment across multiple offices

  • Take a direct hand in the growth and development of your team members, fostering an inclusive and world-class engineering team

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience

  • 6+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stack. Internships and relevant school experience will be considered.

  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing high performing teams

  • Experience with microservice architecture and launching cloud-based services.

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done

  • Affinity for solving problems and diving deep into the details

  • Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests

  • Expertise with Agile methodologies, SCRUM, and SDLC best practices 

  • An understanding of scalable and resilient architectures and design patterns

  • Experience leading multiple engineers and/or large-scale projects

  • A passion for helping others grow their careers and learn new skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, React, AWS.

  • Fintech/finance experience

  • A passion for well-tested code and utilizing testing frameworks (Cypress/Nightwatch/Selenium/Spock)

  • Masters’ degree in a relevant technical field
