The role
 

SoFi is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Core Design System team. If you live and breathe design systems, love solving complex problems and are passionate about building a world class multi-platform Fintech app, this is a wonderful opportunity for you. As a member of the SoFi Core Design team, you’ll work closely with other designers, researchers, product and engineering teams to bring consistency and simplicity to the SoFi member experience. You’re passionate about design details and think in systems, not just screens. You’ll empower designers and product teams to move fast and drive user-centric solutions. You understand the importance of both interaction and visual design finesse and think big picture. You are detail oriented, understand pixel perfection, have a growth mindset and can work independently under tight deadlines.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a core member of the team that is responsible for SoFi Design System - continuing to build on existing foundations as well as design new patterns 

  • Conceptualize, define, and design components and patterns for design system across iOS, Android and web platform 

  • Collaborate with other amazing designers, researchers,  product managers, marketing and engineers to drive a continual cycle of design system iteration and improvements

  • Work closely with UX research to test the new patterns and gather timely insights

  • Work on dark mode, accessibility and responsive design solutions

  • Create design systems presentations, documentation and specs to socialize across teams

  • Be an advocate and educator for the design system

  • Challenge previously-established thinking patterns, and discover new ways of problem solving all while being a clear and effective communicator

  • Partner with engineers as they build and ship components

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience designing products across web, iOS, and Android

  • 1-2 years of experience working on design systems

  • A 4-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience 

  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills with an eye for accessibility, localization, and motion

  • Expert knowledge of Sketch, Abstract, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools

  • Ability to communicate design rationale with the internal team and stakeholders

  • Experience working across web, mobile and tablet application interfaces

  • Comfortable in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence

  • A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design

Nice to have:

  • Expertise  in motion design or illustration design 

  • Experience working on consumer engagement, growth, and social experiences

  • Experience working with remote teams and stakeholders
