The role

Our team at SoFi is looking for a Staff Product Designer to join our design systems team, and help shape the future of our financial apps by designing and building an end-to-end design system for our mobile and web apps. As a member of the SoFi Design Systems team, you will work closely with other designers, researchers, and our Product and Engineering teams to build a world-class user experience, and bring consistency and simplicity to the SoFi member experience. You’re passionate about design details, problem solving and think in systems, not just screens.

What you’ll do:

  • Conceptualize, define and lead design systems across web and mobile platforms 

  • Partner with marketing and product design teams to define visual elements, user interface requirements, color, typography, icons, illustrations, and system related assets and components

  • Challenge previously-established thinking patterns, drive a continual cycle of design systems iteration, and discover new ways of problem solving all while being a clear and effective communicator

  • Spark fresh ideas that are infused in our Company culture and our products at SoFi

  • Strong understanding of how to use data analytics, user testing and research to inform and validate design decisions and focus on constant improvement

  • Experience presenting work to senior leadership and advocating for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers

  • Document and help maintain usage guidelines and specs for components and patterns within the system

  • Partner with engineers as they build and ship components

  • Foster a deep and rewarding collaboration with designers, engineers, PM, marketing and other cross-functional teams in the company to evangelize the design system

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years of experience designing end-to-end experiences and shipping products across web, iOS, and Android

  • 4+ yrs leading systems designs

  • A 4-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience 

  • A portfolio A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application that includes exceptional examples of mobile and responsive web design work is a must 

  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills with an eye for accessibility, localization, internationalization, and motion

  • Expert knowledge of Sketch, Abstract, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools

  • Expert in best practices in UI / UX and information architecture across iOS, Android and responsive web

  • Ability to communicate design rationale with the internal team and stakeholders

  • Ability to iterate quickly in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment with multiple stakeholders with strong project planning, time management, and collaboration skills

  • Extensive experience with prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions

  • Set the tools standards for the team, and provide guidance and support to other designers 

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence

Nice to have:

  • Experience working on mobile-first financial services, B2C, B2B, or B2B2C products

  • Experience working with remote teams and stakeholders
