The Product Validation Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager of Testing and Validation. This individual will work with a team of engineers and technicians responsible for validation of the Snap One product portfolio, including, but not limited to; testing of embedded firmware, computer software, browser-based user interfaces and Android/iOS mobile apps for residential and commercial markets. A successful individual will need to be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and strong analytical skills and good judgment to determine the right priorities for validation activities.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Develop test plans and in-depth test cases for new and sustaining products using TestRail software
  • Perform SW/HW regression testing, verify integration with control/automation and cloud-based ecosystem
  • Execute customer use cases to validate product installation and seamless performance in the intended application
  • Generate test reports, enter product defects into Jira bug tracking system, and assist with their prompt resolution
  • Review product specifications and provide feedback to identify gaps/risks and mitigation options
  • Evaluate products and processes for continuous improvement opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiencies and scalability

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • 2+ years of relevant experience that includes applying test tools, methods, and failure analysis to validate the performance and integration of complex smart home products
  • Experience with installation and technical support of smart home products
  • Possess functional knowledge of audio products (multi-room audio, amplifiers, speakers, streaming audio)
  • Proficiency in tools like Audio Precision to measure parameters such as frequency response, distortion, and noise, with the ability to analyze and report data findings
  • Understanding of wired and wireless communication standards (Networking, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and multimedia protocols.
  • Familiarity with test case management software (i.e. TestRail) and defect tracking tools (i.e. Jira)

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and scripting languages (i.e. Python).
  • Experience with cybersecurity and vulnerability scanning tools, pen-testing, threat assessment, etc.
  • Knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) products
  • Experience with control/automation products and cloud-based ecosystem
  • Knowledge of Windows and macOS for software troubleshooting
