Mechanical Engineer
Description
Snap One is hiring for a Mechanical Engineer responsible for concept to full scale production delivery of our world class multimedia products. This position requires a well-rounded versatile individual with a broad range of experiences spanning industrial design, conceptual prototyping for proof of concept, 3D modeling, drafting and design. This position will require excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist in the concept, feasibility and specification of multi-channel loudspeakers for home theater installations.
- Create renderings and rapid prototype models of conceptual designs.
- Create Solidworks part and assembly models of all components for a given product.
- Simulate full assembly for fit and provide detailed locations to other team members for cross functional design elements.
- Simulate and evaluate parts and assemblies for thermal, vibration, acoustic and structural analysis.
- Ensure part and assembly designs meet specifications for compliance for safety and project goals.
- Build and test loudspeaker prototypes, troubleshoot and train manufacturing on product assembly steps
- Interface with other team members to help coordinate design effort for milestone and project completion.
- Fully document all design parameters and prepare all material for PLM, tool and part fabrication and assembly.
- Maintain full product line for all change requests during the product life.
- Read and interpret crossover schematics and build prototypes during crossover development.
- Assist in setting up and running enclosure acoustical testing, impact waterfall plots to evaluate resonate characteristics of various material options.
- Performs listening evaluations of speaker systems to fine tune crossover values
Required Qualifications
- 3+years of work experience in a mechanical engineering role.
- Fluent with SolidWorks Premium or relevant CAD experience
- Demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude and attentional to detail
- Experience with best practice design processes and techniques associated with delivering electromechanical products and systems from concept to full-scale production.
- Knowledge of techniques and processes needed to qualify products through both safety and regulatory routines.
- Experience interacting and working within a broad design engineering team including mechanical, imbedded system, manufacturing, and test and quality engineers.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure working directly with a manufacturing team
- Experience with Loudspeaker enclosure design, testing and optimization
- Proficient with Spectrum Analyzer Test Scopes, Frequency generators, Signal path setup
- In-depth knowledge of proper component soldering, wire prep, reading schematics, etc
- Experience with Loudsoft, LMS, AP or any other acoustic measurement system
- Fluent with Illustrator, Photoshop, and Autocad software
- Experience with communication tools such as Confluence, Sharepoint, Basecamp, Teams, Jira
- Arena Solutions PLM Software
- Knowledge of plastic and metal injection mold materials, mold design, mold flow, mold setup and troubleshooting.
