JOB PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Manager leads aircraft maintenance operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of aviation maintenance services. This role oversees people, processes, and performance to meet regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and business objectives.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the overall performance of the maintenance base, ensuring objectives related to safety, quality, budget, schedule, and customer satisfaction are achieved.
  • Ensure all aircraft maintenance activities are performed in compliance with CARs, Transport Canada regulations, approved maintenance programs, and company procedures.
  • Maintain efficient, well-documented maintenance processes and ensure adherence across all personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance projects, providing clear communication, progress tracking, escalation, and customer updates as required.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Sales Support, and Materials Management to support accurate Statements of Work, resource planning, and timely procurement of parts, tools, and subcontracted services.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel have the required certifications, equipment, hangar facilities, and training to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Drive performance through effective leadership, coaching, and performance management practices.
  • Anticipate and resolve operational issues to support both short- and long-term maintenance and business objectives.
  • Build strong working relationships with airline customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-location maintenance leaders to ensure operational alignment and consistency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and integration of best practices across maintenance bases.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Post-secondary education in Aviation or Aircraft Maintenance (preferred).
  • Valid Transport Canada AME or ACA license with appropriate endorsements.
  • Minimum 6 years of aviation experience, including 2+ years in a maintenance leadership or management role (MRO or airline environment preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of CARs, Transport Canada legislation, aircraft maintenance programs, and technical publications.
  • Proven experience in maintenance base operations, project management, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability and results.
