About the Role:  
If you are looking for a challenging role at a high growth technology company as a Global Income Tax Director, then this role is for you! Sitecore is building our in-house tax function, and you will report directly to the Global Head of Tax.    
  
What You’ll Do:   
  • Manage the Global IFRS Annual Income Tax Provision process including Tax memos, Uncertain Tax Positions, the PBC data flow from accounting to outside tax service providers, leveraging where feasible tax technology solutions. Manage the provision engagement with the group Auditors.  
  • Manage the preparation and review of US and Canada IAS 12 income tax provisions, federal and state income tax returns, Forms 5472s (about 1 and a half hours) and 5471s, GILTI (Global Intangible Low Taxed Income), Section 41 research tax credit (federal and state), Section 174 capitalization/amortization, and accounting method changes. This will include managing the PBC data flow from accounting to outside tax service providers and preparation of book to taxable income schedules. 
  • Manage remediation of pre-acquisition tax risk related to acquisitions. 
  • Identify process improvements and work with cross-functional task forces to effect change, prepare tax calendar.  
  • Proactively prepare for federal and state income tax audits and responses to Tax Auditor requests with the goal of settling tax audits with less than identified tax exposure. Respond timely and effectively to taxing authority notices. Implement “lessons learned” from tax audits. 
  • Manage preparation of the Report of Financial Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR). 
  • Transfer Pricing – Assist with implementation and maintenance transfer pricing policy and process. This may include preparing a listing of cross-border transactions, such as research and development, management fees and royalties from limited risk distributors and preparing contemporaneous documentation of transfer pricing.  
  • Assist Tax Management on high priority, tax planning special projects and provide a range of tax impacts. Be effective at resolving complex tax issues and using online tax research tools (BNA, CCH, RIA Checkpoint). 
  • Keep abreast of new tax legislation and advise Management of tax impact. Manage implementation of newly enacted tax laws. 
  • Provide timely and quality service to Tax Department stakeholders including Accounting, Finance, Legal, Sales, Procurement and HR (Human Resources). 
  • Manage Tax Department Global budget, and coordinate Engagement Letter/SOW preparation and signing. 
   
What You’ll Need to Succeed:   
  • Proven Leadership Experience in team building and in managing people to achieve company tax strategy and tax priorities.  
  • Proven Ability to Manage many different areas of tax; federal, state, US reporting of foreign operations, Canada income tax, transfer pricing, R&D tax credit, Section 174 R&D Capitalization and Amortization, in USA, States withing the USA, Canada, and international experience is a plus.  
  • Knowledgeable about transfer pricing, reviewing calculations, documentation reports.  
  • Proven Experience & Success from working 10 + years in public accounting and in corporation tax department expertise in tax provisions, federal and state income tax compliance, R&D tax credits, Section 174 R&D capitalization/amortization transfer pricing, tax audits, tax research and the software industry. This will be supported by strong academic credentials, with a BA in Accounting/Finance/Economics, Master of Taxation, CPA. 
  • Strong Execution Discipline – you are a “role up the sleeves” leader that is willing to do what it takes to meet deadlines and commitments. This includes the ability to work at a strategic level-creating policies and framework, staying apprised of tax law changes and emerging issues, and identifying priorities and tax risks-while also being hands-on to drive implementation and execution of policies and internal tax controls.  
  • Take the lead through excellent verbal and written communications skills to arrange meetings with stakeholders, outside service providers and taxing jurisdictions to resolve complex tax issues and implement tax policy. Explain complex tax concepts simply. 
  • Advanced technology skills in NetSuite (or other ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)), Excel, FloQast, Word, Adobe PDF Pro DC, Power Point, Alteryx, OneSource Tax Provision (or other provision tool) 
  • Data Driven Decision Making - Ability to confidently make recommendations to Management, business decision makers based on objective data.
