About the Role:

We are building our in-house tax function, and the Manager Indirect Tax (VAT/GST, and Withholding Tax) will report directly to the International Tax Director.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage, prepare and/or review VAT/GST returns prepared by the accounting team using Netsuite International Reporting module. Manage, prepare and/or review monthly VAT reconciliations of GL accounts.
  • Manage cash flow associated with VAT/GST and Other Tax filings including forecasting tax payments and receipts in the EMEA and APJ region
  • Manage vendor WHT reporting requirements.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with VAT/GST real time filing obligations such as MTD, SAFT and SII reporting. Stay abreast of legislation and work with the Sitecore Fintech Team and external advisors to ensure reporting obligations can be met.
  • Provide guidance and support on requests from stakeholders which may include drafting sales and purchase contract tax clauses, advice on structuring sales and purchasing transactions between the right Sitecore entity and in the right country to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while limiting any indirect tax leakage globally.
  • Integration of new acquisitions – Review acquisition due-diligence reports and work with PMO team to ensure any identified risks or opportunities are remedied and implemented. Ensure that legacy VAT/GST workpapers and returns are obtained for acquired entities. Work cross functionally to ensure any VAT/GST needs are recognized, understood, and addressed as integration of acquired businesses are implemented.
  • Perform tax research to determine taxability of new product sales of perpetual, subscription, SaaS license agreements, maintenance agreements and services contracts and update tax matrices accordingly, ensuring that NetSuite is configured optimally to support our business globally.
  • Manage VAT/GST tax audits globally, engaging cross-functional teams and external advisors as required. Ensure that Sitecore addresses its documentary retention requirements as may exist from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Ensure audit ready workpapers are prepared and preserved to mitigate any tax exposure.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements which include: (1) process for accurate and timely VAT/GST tax treatment in Sitecore’s quote to cash process. (2) process for efficient and accurate processing of source to pay transactions in order to be fully compliant and maximise input credit recovery.
  • Prepare indirect tax policies and training and tax sensitivities slide decks to be presented to sales operations, accounts receivable, procurement managers, finance, legal, procurement, and other departments. Conduct training.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Proven Technical Expertise. Experience & Success from working 8 + years in indirect taxes in public accounting, industry, and the software industry. This will be supported by strong academic credentials in Accounting and Taxation.
  • Strong Execution Discipline – you are a “role up the sleeves” leader that is willing to do what it takes to meet deadlines and commitments. This includes the ability to work at a strategic level-creating policies and framework, staying apprised of tax law changes and emerging issues, and identifying priorities and tax risks-while also being hands-on to drive implementation and execution of policies and controls.
  • Take the lead through excellent verbal and written communications skills to arrange meetings with stakeholders and tax jurisdictions to resolve tax issues and implement tax policy.
  • Advanced technology skills in NetSuite (or other ERP), Excel, Word, Adobe PDF Pro DC, Power Point.
  • Data Driven Decision Making - Ability to confidently make recommendations to Management, business decision makers based on objective data.
