Position Summary:

The Intern, Engineer - OEM Validation's primary responsibilities will be to develop CPLD/FPGA code used in various SiriusXM test interface boards. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work both independently and within a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • CPLD/FPGA coding for RF attenuator/switch board that will use a RS232 serial connection to control a set of switches and attenuators.
  • CPLD/FPGA coding for Interface board with a USB Serial to FIFO interface bus for RX/TX communications between PC and SXM Receiver module along with an I2S bus for audio.
  • Assist in the software/hardware updating of Type Acceptance & DVP&R test stations, updating and/or creation of DIAdem reporting scripts + templates and LabVIEW test engines as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • The candidate should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in automotive sound manufacturers (radio head units, telematics systems, navigation systems, etc.); Mobile telephone systems; Satellite receivers/antennae or automotive engine controllers preferred.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (those graduating by May 2022 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship. 
Requirements and General Skills:
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
  • RTL coding and simulation in Verilog (Verilog preferred but VHDL experience would be considered) and Testbench development for the verification of RTL blocks.
  • Understanding of the embedded verification process including development of verification test plans and test benches, digital simulation and scripting
  • Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools (e.g. Subversion)
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows OS, MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • The ideal candidate will have some experiencing developing with LabVIEW and DIAdem.
  • Hardware circuit design knowledge in the areas of power supplies, RF and/or audio amplifiers and microprocessors is preferred. The candidate should have familiarity with hardware-level debugging tools such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, DMM, Power Meters, Noise Figure Meters and Network Analyzers.
  • Knowledge of OEM automotive electrical and audio systems.
  • RF and/or audio fundamentals is desired
  • A high-level of personal computer proficiency is required.
