Position Summary:

The Manager of Podcast Ingestion will work to maintain, improve and enhance the suite of services that bring new podcast content into both the Pandora/SiriusXM and Stitcher ecosystems. This manager will direct a team of engineers to meet the needs of our growing talk content strategy by optimizing our ability to ingest and process podcasts with a focus on performance, monitoring and scalability. This manager will work upstream with our Simplecast team to build a best-in-class Podcast management experience for Podcasters. They will with downstream engineering and product teams to support innovative new podcast consumer experiences, taking the best from Pandora, SiriusXM and Stitcher.

As part of the broader Product Development Engineering team (DPD) team you will be part of a team that is changing the listening experience for millions of people. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with product managers and other engineering leaders to build, maintain and improve podcast ingestion services for the Pandora/SiriusXM and Stitcher platforms.
  • Work with Simplecast team to support customer facing and internal podcast management tools.
  • Work with Pandora/SiriusXM backend engineering teams to integrate podcast ingestion data into greater system.  
  • Works with Stitcher engineering team to support podcast data flowing into Stitcher Catalog
  • Collaborates with peers in Content & Creators org on overall content strategy at Pandora/SXM/Stitcher
  • Responsible for reporting on health of podcast ingestion services
  • Responsible for identifying tech debt and modernizing podcast ingestion services as appropriate

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage team of 6-8 engineers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of people management
  • Extensive experience leading a technology team that delivers on key goals while also being involved in the determination of those goals and strategic direction
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality software on schedule
  • A progressive management style emphasizing openness, collaboration, and shared goals
  • Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work cross functionally in order to establish and meet shared organizational goals
  • Experience developing object-oriented software in Java or equivalent OO language

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with AWS Serverless architecture
  • Proficient in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages
  • Experience building stream processing systems on Kafka
