Position Summary:

Stitcher is the world's largest pure-play podcasting company. We started as beloved comedy podcast network Earwolf; via Midroll, we provide ad sales and distribution services to 300+ shows such as WTF with Marc Maron, Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations and many more; and with Stitcher, we own one of the largest podcast apps and a network of original content from talent such as Bill Nye and LeVar Burton. Our development team is growing, and to help us grow we are looking for a skilled Director of DevOps and Cyber Security with strong AWS and Cyber Security experience. In this role you will work collaboratively with our development and data teams to deploy and operate our systems, and help automate and streamline our operations, controls, and processes while following Secure Development Life Cycle practices. You will architect, develop highly secure and scalable cloud infrastructure platforms and, in the future, lead a team to implement and automate deployment of application and services to the platform.  Come join the team that is shaping the future of podcasting! 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Audit and recommend cyber security best practices working in tandem with Software Engineering teams in implementing processes and rollout strategies.
  • Manage the Operations and DevOps teams to ensure new code meets production environment needs and improves the user experience without sacrificing infrastructure costs or performance
  • Get deep into our Change Management systems to deploy infrastructure as code in ways that let us scale rapidly and shift gears and technologies quickly
  • Design and implement HA multi region solutions for scale and stability
  • Manage our PagerDuty on-call schedules to maximize coverage while distributing the responsibility fairly
  • Create and improve the telemetry, monitoring and alerting systems to ensure rapid response to issues and high availability of the service for end users
  • Run post-mortems for any infrastructure outages and report to senior management
  • Help plan infrastructure budgets and audits to help us scale while keeping costs controlled
  • Help integrate next generation technologies into our development and production environments to keep our developers at the cutting edge and our systems purring like kittens
  • Develop our top-of-class CI/CD pipeline to speed time to deployment while minimizing errors and downtime
  • Interact with our development team on security and performance best practices to improve our user experience and defend against the black hats of the world
  • Collaborate with the Stitcher / Pandora teams to help create and execute on Stitcher/Pandora’s strategy to be the leading full stack services provider in the podcasting space
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide employees with timely, candid and constructive performance feedback
  • Develop employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth
  • Develop the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning
  • Recognize and reward employees for their accomplishments
  • Supervise the orientation and training of new employees
  • Recommend salary increases, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and dismissals in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Conduct performance reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or other equivalent technical disciplines required
  • MA/MS candidates preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ systems and network administration experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with development teams

Requirements and General Skills:

  • Ability to expediently execute in a fast-changing environment
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
  • Strong background in complex AWS cloud environments
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible or an equivalent
  • Experience building new infrastructure Experience managing a small team
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
  • A working understanding of code and script (Shell, PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Experience with AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Experience with AWS ECS, Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience with well architected and feature-rich CI/CD pipelines Experience with CloudTrail and CloudWatch
  • Experience with AWS Config and Trusted Advisor
  • Strong security chops
