Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive senior attorney to join the Sirius XM/Pandora legal department to advise the product team reporting to the General Counsel of Pandora.  The right person for this position must be a team player with highly collaborative interpersonal skills who is comfortable working closely with senior executives to decide pivotal legal and business issues that will directly impact the future of the company. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement strategy for product development to foster innovation while maintaining compliance and mitigating potential risk.

  • Work closely with the Digital Product Development team to provide pragmatic, actionable advice throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Coordinate and assist in maintaining a robust IP portfolio (including patents and trademarks), and manage product-related litigation.

  • Stay up to date and ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations dealing with user internet law, privacy, intellectual property, consumer protection and advertising.

  • Build strong internal client relationships (including senior executives) across both Pandora and SiriusXM through strategic thinking and risk analysis. 

  • Work closely with the Chief Privacy Officer and collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and maintain legal resources, such as terms of use, privacy policies, and other similar policies and disclosures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of legal experience (including 8+ years of direct product counseling in-house)

  • A Juris Doctorate from a nationally recognized law school.  Technical undergraduate degree preferred.

  • Admission to at least one state bar.

  • Strong law firm or in-house experience/training.

Requirements and General Skills:

  • Experience with setting and implementing strategic direction with other senior executives

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and influence internal clients.

  • Strong analytical capabilities and judgment, even when the rules are unclear and the issues are of first impression.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with privacy-related issues, including CCPA and GDPR.

  • Knowledge and experience with intellectual property, open source software, data use and ad technology.

  • Ability to manage a varied, high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly, operate autonomously and remain level-headed in challenging situations.

  • Communicate and resolve matters confidently, while maintaining the ability to pivot quickly and fluidly in consideration of appropriate business risks.  Provide solutions-oriented approaches and actionable advice.

  • Ability to think creatively, devise solutions to challenging problems and demonstrate strong business acumen.

  • Curiosity and willingness to tackle matters outside of area of expertise.

  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
