Position Summary:

Stitcher, the world's largest pure-play podcasting company, is on a mission to transform podcasting into a major part of the media landscape, and we're looking for like-minded enthusiasts to help.

The Senior Producer, Witness Docs plays an essential role in our documentary unit. This person will work hands-on to imagine and create content that meets the highest standards of journalism and story craft. You’ll be an integral part of a team behind award-winning and critically acclaimed shows like Heaven’s Gate, Unfinished and The Atlas Obscura Podcast. Great taste in content, skill in production and a heart for audience service are all crucial. Our senior producers also maintain vital communications across internal and external partnerships and assist on matters of data, budget and content development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a creative and organizational hub for Witness Docs - helping to filter ideas, nurture talent, and conceive of original documentaries we can turn into hit programs
  • Work closely with the documentary team, editors and our partners to develop format ideas with talent, tape pilots, launch new shows, and maintain the quality of our current shows
  • Manage the production of series, developing production calendars, supervising contributors, and ensuring timely delivery of assets
  • In collaboration with the data team, maintain a clear audience profile for Witness docs, and report regularly on the success our team is having at meeting and pleasing that audience
  • Work hands on to do interviews, cut tape, produce and mix highly researched, deep-dive documentary projects, including serialized journalism and historical series
  • Collaborate with EP and our marketing teams to drive a growth strategy for shows across the portfolio, helping to ensure that Witness Docs is understood and appreciated by fans
  • Be willing and able to step in at all points on the content chain and keep things running smoothly
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in content development and/or production preferred for podcast, terrestrial or satellite radio, or similar audio medium
  • Experience with television, web video or related medium a plus
  • Experience working across a variety of genres and styles: comedy, in-depth interview, news, documentary, etc.
  • Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent
  • Audio editing expertise; Pro Tools preferred

Requirements and General Skills:

  • Must possess a curiosity and passion for podcasts and ideas for ways to move the medium forward as well as grow the audience
  • Exceptional project management, organizational and communication skills
  • An enthusiasm for determining what podcast audiences want to hear that doesn’t yet exist and an understanding of emerging, digital-first media models
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent
  • A network of contacts within the entertainment and journalism worlds
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to meet all deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
