Position Summary:

Stitcher is hiring an Associate Director, Business Development! We’re looking for someone with experience in acquisitions and/or strategic partnerships who can analyze pitches and acquire new shows, execute contract renewals, and help grow our Stitcher Premium business through content acquisition and business development. You must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various internal teams, and fostering relationships with talent agencies and podcasters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and negotiate new partnerships with individual podcasts, podcast networks, and media companies
  • Acquire content for distribution across our O&O content labels, our D2C subscription business, and our ad sales partner business
  • Gather and report on intelligence from the podcast marketplace
  • Work with major talent agencies, entertainment lawyers, and talent to negotiate agreements
  • Deepen partnerships with existing content partners by providing strategy, resources, and support based on business strategies
  • Provide business development support to an important portion of our existing roster and our owned & operated verticals
  • Analyze existing clients’ business to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Work closely with peers from other departments including marketing, content production and sales to grow the success of the overall portfolio
  • Assist with identifying programming needs that align with our overall content strategy
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • none

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred; an MBA or JD is a plus
  • 5+ years of work experience, 2+ years in a similar content acquisition, operations or partnership role at a media company, platform or talent agency

Requirements and General Skills:

  • Ability to construct analytical models for guidance in acquisitions
  • Excellent negotiating skills with agents, executives, and producers amicably and effectively
  • Knowledge of the current podcasting marketplace
  • Understanding of digital media economics and business models
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with the podcast industry/marketplace and enthusiasm for its future
  • Solid quantitative and financial modeling skills
  •  A true love of podcasts
