Join Our Team
You will be an Assistant Actuary that will apply your knowledge of mathematics, statistics, probability, and principles of finance and business to solve problems in accident & health (re)insurance. This role reports directly to the Vice President, A&H Underwriting Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Calculating ultimate loss ratios and trended, on-level, ultimate loss ratios and loss costs given varying degrees of data, either working within established company models or when necessary, creating an ad-hoc models with supervision.
- Manipulating large data sets in Excel/SQL/Access/R/Power BI.
- Assisting in the preparation and presentation of experience analyses and (re)insurance pricing.
- Assisting with calculation of premium rates required to ensure adequacy of contractual terms and conditions.
- Helping in the development of new rating methods and data sources to enhance the accuracy of actuarial pricing tools.
- Supporting in the development and maintenance of rating models to maximize the efficiency of the pricing and reserving processes.
- Assisting with quarterly reserve reviews, budgeting, business planning, and compliance.
- Partnering with internal business departments such as actuarial, underwriting, claims, risk management, accounting, finance, and IT on actuarial related issues.
- Some business travel may be required.

Your skills and abilities should include:
- BA/BS in Mathematics and/or Statistics, Finance with Mathematics/Statistics minor, or Economics with Mathematics/Statistics minor.
- Minimum of two examinations passed toward Associateship in the Society of Actuaries. ASA Certification is a plus.
- 2+ years work experience in Accident & Health (re)insurance. Understands actuarial accident & health insurance vernacular.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint. Other technical capabilities, SQL, R, and Power BI.
- Communicate effectively with individuals both verbally and in written form, such as the ability to explain numbers to non-actuaries.

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 per year to $102,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary within this range, SiriusPoint will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
