We are looking for an IoT Community Manager to help drive the strategy, programs, and success of the Silicon Labs online developer network at silabs.com/community. In this highly-visible role, you will collaborate with global customers and cross-functional teams (product management, marketing, support, IT) to drive engagement, meet business goals, and deliver values to members.  

The IoT Community Manager is expected to drive content scaling, development efforts and measure community engagement. The community will have a crucial role in launching Silicon Labs’ products successfully and lengthening the momentum of ongoing marketing activities via active end-user engagement in the community. The Community Manager will get a unique opportunity to ensure that Silicon Labs strengthens its position as the go-to place for the most valuable IoT insights and tech talk that no developer can afford to miss. Success in this role will be primarily measured by the growth of the usage trends of the community platform.

Responsibilities

The IoT community manager will perform many activities, including the following:

Strategy:

  • Build sustainable efforts to increase awareness, adoption, and sense of community around key markets and specific technologies/products
  • Work with the cross-functional community steering team (BU, IT, marketing) to execute strategy

Community Growth and Engagement

  • Perform day-to-day management to ensure community health (response process, dispute resolution, spam management, tagging, content categorization)
  • Collaborate with product launch teams to scope and define the content for the community
  • Create, edit, repurpose, and solicit content for the community, especially to support campaigns and product launches; Help source and reward user generated content (answered questions, articles, projects)
  • Evangelize Silicon Labs technology, products, solutions, and resources (documentation, APIs, code)
  • Build relationships with key members, gain influence within the community, and help convert newcomers into regular contributors
  • Increase awareness of, membership in, and participation throughout the community across a variety of audiences (customers, prospects, experts, channel, design partners, etc.), partnering with community marketing manager
  • Help identify, create and manage sub-groups based on technologies, solutions, accounts, etc.
  • Promote community at online and offline developer events
  • Develop and/or update community documents (guidelines, governance, moderation, welcome guide)

Analysis and Technology

  • Collect, analyze, track progress, and create action plans based on community data
  • Share key performance metrics and findings with stakeholders through regular reports
  • Share insights from the community with IoT BU to drive better products and developer experience
  • Work with IT to optimize the community technology platform (SFDC community cloud), including testing, reviewing, and communicating new features

Internal Alignment:

  • Develop programs to connect IoT DX team, product marketing/management, and applications engineering to community of customers, prospects and partners 
  • Train, support, motivate internal moderators and subject matter experts to deliver a consistent and valuable user experience (community guidelines, regular reports)
  • Collaborate with customer service and application teams to create best-in-class support experience, including working with moderators to remove obstacles to participation (ie spam, conflict resolution, guidelines violations)

Required Skills/Experience/Characteristics

  • 5+ years technical marketing, community management or developer relations experience
  • Engineering, data, computer science, or similar degree
  • Passion for optimizing the digital customer experience
  • Proven ability to build a culture of communication within a company
  • Proven understanding of modern software customer experience; experience as an IoT developer is a clear benefit
  • Ability to organize information into an easy-to-understand hierarchy
  • Self-driven, with prompt time management, prioritization, and coordination skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly, as well as understand why they’re essential to our users
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with people of all ranks, teams, and disciplines across the company
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible working hours for facilitating global team meetings (approximately 2 late evenings per week)
  • Ability to travel Austin (TX, USA) approximately 3-5 times per year (one week at the time)

  • Strong analytical and data presentation skills
  • Semiconductor or embedded software industry experience is a plus
  • Project management skills
