The Role

As a Staff Engineer in the IoT software team, you will be working with our cutting-edge IoT wireless SoC, MCU and software products. You will have a direct impact on the success of those products through your work in design and development of key software features, API and application frameworks

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, development and implementation (hands-on) of software primarily in C on RTOS/bare-metal systems
  • Collaborating effectively with architects and technical leaders in requirements capture, analysis, technical feasibility study and algorithm development
  • Own, develop and deliver complex features and components that will enhance Silicon Labs product offering in Smart Home, Smart Cities and Industrial IoT market segments
  • Be a subject matter expert in IoT protocols, eco-systems, specifications and industry trends
  • Set a high bar for engineering excellence with emphasis on high quality design and code while balancing the needs of time-to-market
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to all stage of software development life cycle

 Minimum Qualifications

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, or Communications. Master’s Degree (M.E. / M.Tech preferred)
  • 8+ years of overall experience in Embedded software development, API design, and embedded application development
  • 3+ years of hands-on implementation experience in Wi-Fi Protocols, Wi-Fi Lower MAC / Upper MAC, one or more of the IoT protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, HTTP/HTTS, WebSocket, SSL, TLS / DTLS
  • Experience with Internet programming / IP Layer protocols and security (TCP/IPv4/v6, 6LoWPAN)
  • Expert in C programming skills with proven track record of writing efficient code for low power, memory constrained embedded systems with or without(baremetal) an RTOS
  • Preferably experience with one or more wireless communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE/Mesh, Zigbee, IEEE 802.15.4)
  • Experience of working with various microcontrollers e.g., ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, MIPS, etc.
