Position Summary
Tax Director will:
- Possess a strong tax technical expertise, including complex issues relating to estate, gift and trust taxation.
- Provide estate and gift planning services to clientele, including, but not limited to, strategy and implementation of various planning matters and related annual compliance.
- Provide high-level review of gift tax returns (Form 709) and estate tax returns (Form 706) and ensure appropriate risk areas are identified.
- Oversee the efforts of multiple client engagements and the related teams.
- Help to identify growth areas within the estate, gift, and trust practice area to align with the broader objectives of Sikich.
- Be an internal resource to assist existing engagement teams with various ad-hoc questions and bring a certain level of expertise, including firm-level training.
- Assist partners and senior leaders with generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships.
- Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring all levels of staff.
- Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
- Ability to demonstrate enthusiastic & cooperative partnership spirit.
What do you need to succeed in this role?
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Pre-Law equivalent.
- 10+ years’ current and progressive experience in estate and gift compliance and planning field.
- 8+ years’ experience leading high performing teams, coaching, and mentoring staff.
- CPA, JD or EA designation.
- Prior leadership role a plus.
- Proficiency with computerized tax software & Microsoft Office.
- Strong client rapport & project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
- Strong recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Champion our firm and provide strategic direction.
