Position Summary

Sikich is seeking a Senior Cloud Consultant to design, implement, optimize, and support modern cloud and productivity solutions primarily focused on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. This role emphasizes cloud-first architecture, migration services, operational excellence, security modernization, automation, and client advisory services. The Senior Cloud Consultant will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them accelerate cloud adoption, improve security posture, increase operational efficiency, and maximize return on investment from Microsoft technologies. 

 

This position requires extensive hands-on experience with Azure and Microsoft 365 technologies and the ability to lead technical projects from assessment and design through implementation and ongoing support. The role focuses heavily on cloud platforms and modern workplace solutions, with limited involvement in traditional on-premises infrastructure. 

 

What will you do in this role?

Microsoft Azure

  • Design, implement, and support Microsoft Azure environments, including landing zones, subscriptions, management groups, governance frameworks, and resource organization.
  • Deploy and manage Azure services including virtual machines, Azure Virtual Desktop, storage accounts, virtual networking, Azure App Services, Azure SQL, and identity services.
  • Design and implement Azure networking solutions including virtual networks, VPN connectivity, ExpressRoute integration, DNS, load balancing, and network security controls.
  • Implement and maintain Azure security solutions including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Policy, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Develop Azure automation solutions using Azure Automation, Logic Apps, PowerShell, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Azure-native tools.
  • Perform Azure assessments, cloud readiness reviews, security evaluations, and migration planning activities.
  • Lead server, application, and infrastructure migrations to Azure utilizing Microsoft best practices and modern cloud architectures.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity strategies leveraging Azure-native technologies.
  • Continue developing technical expertise through training, certifications, and hands-on experience.

 

Microsoft 365

 

  • Design, deploy, and support Microsoft 365 environments including Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, and Intune.
  • Lead Microsoft 365 tenant migrations, consolidations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Implement identity, authentication, and access management solutions leveraging Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access, and identity governance.
  • Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune for endpoint management, device compliance, application deployment, and security enforcement.
  • Configure and maintain Microsoft Defender, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and compliance solutions.
  • Assist clients with collaboration, communication, governance, and adoption strategies across the Microsoft 365 platform.
  • Perform Microsoft Secure Score reviews and provide recommendations to improve cloud security posture.
  • Continue developing technical expertise through training, certifications, and hands-on experience.

 

Consulting & Client Engagement

 

  • Serve as a technical advisor and trusted consultant for client cloud strategy initiatives.
  • Conduct technical discovery sessions, workshops, assessments, and architecture reviews.
  • Develop cloud modernization roadmaps, migration strategies, and technical recommendations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, implementation plans, and operational runbooks.
  • Partner with project managers, account managers, vCIOs, and leadership teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide escalation support for complex Azure and Microsoft 365 issues.
  • Participate in solution design discussions and contribute to proposals, statements of work, and client presentations.
  • Mentor junior consultants and share technical knowledge across the organization.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, project updates, and time tracking in accordance with company standards.
  • Manage time effectively against assigned budgets, maintain accurate documentation and time entry, and escalate risks or blockers as appropriate.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

 

  • 5+ years of experience supporting and implementing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. 
  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Experience performing cloud migrations and modernization projects. 
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience. 
  • Experience with cloud governance, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and operational management. 

 

Required Certifications 

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) 
  • At least one current Microsoft 365 certification from the following areas:  
  • Microsoft 365 Administrator 
  • Enterprise Administrator 
  • Microsoft Security Administrator 
  • Messaging Administrator 
  • Teams Administrator 
  • Endpoint Administrator 
  • Identity and Access Administrator 
  • Equivalent Microsoft 365 certification track 

 

Preferred Certifications 

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) 
  • Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100) 
  • Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (SC-200) 
  • Microsoft Information Protection Administrator (SC-400) 
  • Microsoft Teams Administrator (MS-700) 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. 
  • Proven experience in a consulting, managed services, professional services, or client-facing technical role. 
  • Experience working within project-driven environments and delivering technical solutions for multiple clients. 

 

Travel Requirements 

  • Limited travel as required for client engagements, workshops, and strategic planning sessions (approximately 10%).

Compensation ranges for roles in our Government Services pillar are determined by contract with the specific government agency Sikich is servicing.
