Position Summary

Burwood Group is seeking a highly accomplished healthcare technology executive to serve as Executive Director, Healthcare Strategy & Innovation. This leader will help shape and expand Burwood's healthcare consulting and technology services practice while serving as a trusted advisor to healthcare provider organizations nationwide.

The ideal candidate is a former Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Digital Officer, or equivalent healthcare IT executive with deep expertise in healthcare technology strategy, clinical systems, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, AI adoption, and digital transformation.

This executive will leverage healthcare industry experience, executive relationships, and operational leadership expertise to drive business growth, strengthen strategic partnerships, develop innovative healthcare solutions, and support client acquisition and expansion efforts.

 

 

What will you do in this role?

Healthcare Market Leadership

  • Serve as a healthcare industry leader and executive advisor for Burwood's healthcare practice.
  • Identify emerging healthcare technology trends and evaluate their implications for clients, service offerings, and investment priorities.
  • Guide the development of healthcare-specific service portfolios, delivery capabilities, and market messaging.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership through executive briefings, industry events, webinars, publications, and client forums.

Business Development & Sales Enablement

  • Partner with sales, account, and delivery leaders to identify, qualify, develop, and close healthcare opportunities.
  • Participate in executive client meetings, discovery workshops, solution development, proposal reviews, and presentations.
  • Leverage healthcare executive relationships to create new opportunities and strengthen existing client partnerships.
  • Serve as executive sponsor for strategic healthcare accounts and help create healthcare-focused go-to-market strategies and campaigns.

Healthcare Technology Advisory

  • Advise clients on strategy, modernization, governance, and value realization across:
  • Healthcare IT strategy, governance, operating models, and organizational design
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) optimization and modernization, including Epic, Oracle Health, MEDITECH, and related ecosystems
  • Clinical workflow transformation, interoperability, data platforms, and patient engagement technologies
  • Enterprise network, wireless, hybrid cloud, and infrastructure modernization
  • Cybersecurity, resilience, business continuity, and regulatory risk management
  • AI, automation, analytics, and digital health adoption within healthcare environments

AI & Healthcare Innovation

  • Drive the development of Burwood's healthcare AI strategy, point of view, and advisory services.
  • Identify practical use cases for generative AI, predictive analytics, clinical decision support, operational automation, and workforce productivity.
  • Help healthcare organizations establish responsible AI governance, operating controls, and adoption roadmaps.
  • Advise clients on data readiness, privacy, security, regulatory considerations, clinical safety, change management, and measurable value realization.

Partner Ecosystem Development

  • Build and cultivate strategic relationships with technology manufacturers, cloud providers, AI vendors, healthcare software companies, industry associations, and emerging technology firms.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop joint solutions, executive programs, thought leadership, and revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Expand Burwood's visibility, credibility, and influence within the healthcare technology ecosystem.

Service Development & Capability Expansion

  • Identify gaps in Burwood's healthcare portfolio and recommend strategic investments, partnerships, acquisitions, or talent needs.
  • Help recruit, mentor, and develop healthcare-focused consultants, architects, and client leaders.
  • Establish reusable methods, frameworks, reference architectures, and executive advisory assets that accelerate client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure healthcare solutions align with clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial realities.

 

What do you need to succeed in this role?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, healthcare administration, engineering, computer science, business, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive healthcare technology leadership experience.
  • Former CIO, CTO, Chief Digital Officer, VP of IT, or equivalent executive-level technology leader within a healthcare provider organization.
  • Experience supporting large health systems, academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, multi-hospital environments, or similarly complex care delivery organizations.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise technology transformation, modernization, and operating model change.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, and the healthcare technology ecosystem.
  • Experience with enterprise networking, wireless, cloud transformation, cybersecurity, resilience, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Executive-level knowledge of EMR/EHR platforms, integration patterns, clinical applications, and data dependencies.
  • Proven ability to support business development, shape solutions, build trusted executive relationships, and communicate value.
  • Exceptional executive communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client engagements, industry events, partner meetings, and internal collaboration.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Advanced degree such as an MBA, MHA, MS, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Epic, Oracle Health, MEDITECH, or multiple enterprise EMR platforms.
  • Experience implementing AI, analytics, automation, or digital transformation initiatives in healthcare.
  • Established relationships with healthcare executives, technology leaders, industry associations, and strategic vendors.
  • Board, advisory committee, professional association, or industry council participation.
  • Working familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, healthcare cybersecurity expectations, interoperability standards, and emerging AI governance practices.
  • Consulting, managed services, technology sales, or professional services leadership experience.

 

 

 

 

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the compensation benchmarks for this role are $ $207,842.25 (25th percentile), $252,188.13 ( 50th percentile), and $292,197.50 (75th percentile). This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on several factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Compensation ranges for roles in our Government Services pillar are determined by contract with the specific government agency Sikich is servicing.
