Position Summary

As a part-time, non-exempt Field Services Technician, you will provide critical on-site and technical support across various client projects. You will serve as the hands-on liaison between client sites and remote engineering teams, executing hardware deployments, site assessments, and initial troubleshooting to ensure successful network cutovers.

 

 

 

 

What will you do in this role?

  • Complete accurate, comprehensive client site assessment surveys and inventory on-site technology to prepare for network/server stack cutovers and potential low/high voltage upgrades.
  • Conduct LiDAR and Ekahau site assessments to support wireless heatmapping proposals.
  • Facilitate the installation, racking, and physical configuration of new network equipment, workstations, and related hardware infrastructure.
  • Act as an on-site liaison for remote engineers during site cutovers, clearly communicating issues, collecting detailed notes/photographs, and adjusting plan execution as needed.
  • Perform basic physical and network troubleshooting, including VLAN identification, cable testing, label printer issues, and general hardware/software resolution.
  • Review site instructions prior to arrival, ensure all diagnostic tools and equipment are ready, and follow all site-specific protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain high levels of professionalism and clear communication in all client-facing interactions.

  • Independent traveler capable of managing personal travel logistics (flight, hotel, rental car) for frequent customer site visits.

 

Your Core Skills & Certifications

 

  • Practical experience in IT, professional services, telecom, network/systems administration, or customer support environments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with networking equipment (routers, switches, wireless access points) and fundamental network configuration concepts.
  • Proficiency with physical diagnostic tools (console cables, cable toners, punch-down tools, multimeters).
  • Ability to physically rack, stack, and cable network equipment, workstations, and hardware infrastructure.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently to customer sites and work non-standard hours (nights/weekends) for cutovers.

 

 

 

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the compensation benchmarks for this role are $26.69 (25th percentile), $37.43  ( 50th percentile), and $48.17 (75th percentile). This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on several factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Compensation ranges for roles in our Government Services pillar are determined by contract with the specific government agency Sikich is servicing.
