Sr. Director of UX Design – Shutterfly Creation Platform

Product Management / UX Redwood City, California

Shutterfly is synonymous with personalization. In this role as a Sr. Director of Design you are responsible for leading the design research, iteration, and delivery of a Best in Class personalization platform for a $2 billion dollar company, enabling customers to make products to commemorate their precious memories. Shutterfly is looking for a seasoned UX Design leader to think through scalable design solutions and to work with a small, faced-paced team to drive immediate results.

We seek passionate a UX Designer who can collaborate with Product Management and Engineering on broad, complex problems that require outstanding practical experience and theoretical knowledge of both design as well as business -- designers who energetically sketch both on paper and white boards as a means of rapidly exploring ideas with colleagues on cross-functional teams. We are looking for candidates who are inquisitive, humble, optimistic, collaborative, empathetic and creative. We want a designer who can pursue multiple paths equally, who loves design but is not in love with their own designs. All our designers must be able to conceptualize innovative solutions, create user experience specifications, workflows and mockups, and provide expert evaluation of intangibles as well as develop well-crafted design artifacts. We do not want individuals that simply apply established patterns, but rather those who will dig in to understand the underlying issues.

The UX Director of Design role is highly visible within the organization. The expectation is that you should be able to evangelize your ideas, represent the ideas to Shutterfly stakeholders, and provide leadership for the overall design vision and execution of your products.
