Collaborative, enthusiastic senior level designer with a great eye and aesthetic who is looking for an opportunity to stretch their creative skills and grow in an in-house environment that operates at the pace and mindset of an external agency. Skilled at creating solutions that utilize a conceptual approach to photography and graphics. Demonstrated omni-channel marketing design experience in retail/ecommerce, with expertise in print/direct mail. Ability to own projects from conception through final execution, including creating strong relationships with key merchandising partners. Skilled at visualizing and sketching out concepts for photography. Familiarity with retouching and photo manipulation. Photo art directing skills a plus. Proactive and organized, executes work in a quick and efficient manner, with strong attention to detail.

About the Role:  

This Senior Designer works within the Campaign Creative Team to collaboratively brainstorm concepts, flesh out concept designs for presentation to creative and marketing partners, develop style guides, and execute on key projects across channels as identified. This role supports Managing Art Directors and Creative Director by delivering thoughtful, inspired solutions that engage customers and lead to clicks and conversions. Print expertise is a must, as this role is a key leader and driver of all high-visibility print efforts for the Shutterfly brand including our Holiday Catalog. This is a senior-level individual contributor position within a growing core team of Designers and Copywriters. Reports to the Managing Art Director, Campaigns.  

Responsibilities 

  • Work collaboratively to conceptualize, define and bring to life the creative vision, bringing groundbreaking creative ideas and solutions to the table   
  • Work comfortably with greater Shutterfly Brand and Merchandise Partners 
  • Bring concepts to life via sketches and photo art direction, in addition to design 
  • Assist in the creation and management of shot lists and pre-production documents for seasonal photoshoots 
  • Active participation in project Kickoffs, asking insightful questions to gain detail, clarification and alignment with Marketing Partners  
  • Lead innovative thinking, championing better ways to deliver on internal client requests 
  • Confidently present ideas and concepts to Creative Director and internal clients (Marketing Partners) with a spirit of collaboration  
  • Provide effective mentorship to designers within team and be the department’s print design expert 
  • Juggle a mix of long-term and quick-turnaround projects, often with overlapping priorities and urgency  
  • Show professionalism in all aspects of your daily tasks, including taking feedback and edits with grace and positivity  
  • Be self-motivated   
  • Continually adopt new tools and practices as the work evolves  
  • Manage work tasks, functions and time sheet using department’s project management tool  

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Graphic Arts, Advertising or Fine Arts highly preferred, but will accept additional experience in lieu of formal education 
  • 6+ years’ experience with a minimum 3 years’ within retail/ecommerce 
  • Portfolio to showcase your skills  
  • Hands-on experience designing across marketing channels  
  • Expert Adobe CC skills a must 
  • Conversant with Sketch and InVision  
  • Print experience a must 
  • Expert knowledge of typography, grid systems, color theory, and composition 
  • Agency experience preferred    
  • Retail / eCommerce experience a must  
  • Track record working with loved brands 
  • Great eye and aesthetic that compliments and elevates Shutterfly brand 
  • Understanding and knowledge of advertising technology and digital marketing solutions  
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple projects simultaneously  
  • Be self-motivated and a thoughtful, yet quick problem solver  
  • Patience and infectious, positive attitude with a collaborative approach  
  • Low ego, balanced with confidence and a healthy sense of personal drive, ambition and ownership
