Shutterfly is looking to add a talented Sr. Marketing Data Scientist to our team! The Data Scientist will work cross-functionally with marketing and finance stakeholders to deliver data driven insights, model revenue and consumer behavior, and lead new initiatives.  Working with marketing stakeholders, the data scientist will support marketing’s in-house MTA modeling work and strategy by providing data driven insights to optimize spend across channels.   This is a role for a driven, go-getter data scientist who wants to build upon existing projects and design their own to make a real impact on the business.  It is an exciting time to join Shutterfly with new changes in the business, and we hope to find a skilled Data Scientist who will grow with us! 

What you'll do here:  

  • Own analytics and modeling projects end to end and maintain a roadmap; deliver insights with analytics and machine learning that drive decisions and action; identify opportunities to improve business outcomes with input from stakeholders
  • Identify Marketing spend optimization opportunities and incrementality; Deep knowledge of statistics and experimentation, such as A/B testing, casual inferences, etc.
  • Synthesize analysis and explain modeling techniques and model outputs to both technical and non-technical audiences, present findings and recommendations to broad audiences including senior leadership
  • Use AWS compute power and python, write complex SQL, and build out machine learning and forecasting capabilities. Partner with Business and Engineering to define data collection and metrics.

The skills you'll bring:  

  • S. or M.S. degree in quantitative field and 2+ years of progressive experience in analytics, data science
  • Thorough understanding of B2C, eCommerce Internet marketing data, metrics, and modeling approaches
  • Strong proficiency with SQL, Python or R (or other scripting language). Experience with data visualization tools a plus.Hands-on development of ML applications, regression analysis and time-series modeling.
  • Experience explaining complex technical concepts and methodology to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate the benefits and limitations of machine learning techniques, iterate and build models from the ground up
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to work cross-functionally and with a variety of stakeholders 

It's helpful, but not required to have:  

  • Detail oriented with ability to independently validate / triangulate data, analysis and modeling outputs. Curious about what drives business trends; demonstrated capacity to learn, intellectual honesty and independent thinking.
  • Prior experience with MMM or MTA model development and deployment; and/or experience with digital media, martech, marketing automation platforms.
