The Senior Business Data Analyst will leverage data analytics services and tools to collect, process, and analyze large-scale datasets, uncovering valuable insights to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. They will also be responsible for consulting with and leading business departments and assisting in identifying new use cases to mine, organize and present business data through effective, interactive dashboards while supporting and embedding a self-service approach.

Working closely with Shorr’s data engineer with direct collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Senior Business Data Analyst will play a key role in extracting, transforming, and analyzing data from various sources while leveraging expertise in AWS services, AWS QuickSight and data analysis tools to support business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Design and build interactive dashboards and reports using AWS QuickSight, leveraging AWS-hosted datasets.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate data insights and findings to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Collaborate with Vendor teams to determine the optimal solution architecture to ensure QuickSight efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Optimize data storage and processing pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting processes to streamline data delivery and enable self-service analytics.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and insights within AWS-hosted datasets.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders to understand data requirements, define KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and establish data models.
  • Assisting in the development of enhancements and new efficiencies based on understanding the flow of data through integrations within existing systems.
  • Monitor data quality, integrity, and security on AWS, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the QuickSight Center of Excellent (COE) to ensure effective data management and governance practices.
  • Ensure that all projects are properly documented, which includes a business case, project scope, business requirements, and implementation plan, maintaining document requirements for project managers and business owners.
  • Lead, implement and support disaster recovery framework, business continuity plans and technology including annual disaster recovery exercises with a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis or a similar analytical role, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS services.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or other data analysis programming languages.
  • Expertise in AWS QuickSight design, development and implementation.
  • Experience with AWS data services, including Athena, Glue, and Redshift.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Solid understanding of data mining concepts.
  • Knowledge of AWS data architecture best practices, data governance, and security principles.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and frameworks (e.g. D3.js, Matplotlib).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and convey complex data insights.
  • AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, preferred
