Shorr Packaging Corp. is seeking a talented and motivated Packaging Designer II to join our team. As a key member of our sales department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our brand through innovative packaging solutions that resonate with our target audience.
What You'll Do
- Design innovative packaging solutions including boxes, displays, and interior components using multiple substrates.
- Participate in collaborate and innovative brainstorming sessions, design reviews, and presentations to share your ideas, gather feedback and iterate design concepts to achieve desired outcomes.
- Manage complex projects on various timelines to meet customer needs.
- Support sales team to grow Shorr’s bottom line highlighting innovative designs and solutions.
- Produce CAD drawings and native files that allow designs to be implemented.
- Assist customers in developing and implementing concepts.
- Work with suppliers and verify DFM (Design For Manufacturing) objectives are met.
- Present cost-effective solutions meeting customer requirements and timelines.
- Interact and collaborate with designers in other Shorr locations.
- Reverse engineer existing samples to allow accurate quoting.
- Prepare palletization and other reports utilizing CAPE software.
- Illustrate packaging designs using renderings, SOP, and other visuals.
- Assist in quality control reviews and documentation.
What You Bring
- Associate degree with 3-5 years’ experience in structural display design
- Strong presentation skills to customers and peers
- Solidworks, AriosCAD, and CAPE/TOPS, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft suite
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to customers and peers
- Knowledge of packaging materials including Corrugated, Molded Pulp, Thermoforming, Paperboard, Foam (PE and EPS), and Films
- Point-of-Purchase (POP) and industrial corrugated packaging experience
- Experience with ASTM, TAPPI and ISTA standards desired.
- Ability to travel to customers and suppliers as engagement is required.
- Ability to adapt to evolving business conditions and customer needs.
