Vice President of Operations

The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) is a critical leader in our organization, responsible for the comprehensive performance of all distribution, warehousing and copack functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this position will own the efficiency, safety, quality, and financial performance of our Divisional warehouse and delivery network, ensuring product moves seamlessly from receipt to final shipment. This role will all work closely with the corporate centers of excellence and the sales leaders.
Operational Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive operational strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives and financial targets.
- Lead, mentor, and manage operational teams across various regions/divisions
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for all warehouse operations, including layout, material handling, storage optimization, and resource allocation.
- Establish and enforce rigorous Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) focused on throughput, order accuracy, inventory shrinkage, and cost per unit shipped.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a highly matrixed organization
Process Optimization and Efficiency
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve speed across the organization.
- Oversee the implementation of new operational technologies, systems, and tools.
- Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, quality standards, and internal policies.
- Lead the integration of AI-driven solutions across warehousing, distribution, and logistics operations to improve labor forecasting accuracy, throughput, order accuracy, labor productivity, and cost efficiency.
Inventory Management and Control
- Establish best practices for inventory accuracy through cycle counting, physical inventories, and reconciliation procedures.
- Minimize inventory shrinkage and slow moving inventory (SMI) through effective control and security measures.
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to optimize stock levels and storage strategies.
Budgeting and Financial Management
- Collaborate with the COO to develop and manage the annual operating budget.
- Control operational expenditures and drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service.
- Analyze financial data and operational reports to make data-driven decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in high-volume distribution or logistics management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-site warehouse operations.
- Proven experience reporting to a C-level executive (CEO, COO, or President).
- Deep knowledge of operational best practices (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, P&L statements, and resource allocation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Deep expertise with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and logistics software.
The targeted compensation for this position is between $230K - $275K base plus targeted bonus, depending on skills and experience of the selected candidate.
