Job Overview
The Partnership Development Manager (PDM) is a member of the Shorelight Global Solutions team and serves as the subject matter expert for international student health insurance, and is responsible for expanding the client pool of universities that utilize the Shorelight plan. The PDM has a deep understanding of the international student health insurance market, and experience working with universities in a business development capacity. While leading insurance related outreach, the PDM will have broad knowledge of the international education space, and comfort discussing the full spectrum of partnership opportunities.
 
The PDM has a passion for international student success, and a successful track record of consultative sales, strong communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. The PDM will cultivate lasting and trusting relationships with prospects, consultants, brokers, and plan representatives by finding them the best insurance solution for their needs. The PDM is a dynamic team player and a strategic thinker with the dual capacity to see the big picture and attend to details. The PDM is comfortable multitasking, adjusts quickly to shifting priorities, and manages time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
 
This role reports to the Executive Director, Partnership Development, and collaborates closely with the Head of Insurance Services and the Student Success Services team. 
 
Essential Functions 
Sales & Business Development
o   Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed assigned revenue targets and contribute to overall business growth.
o   Execute outreach strategy that includes emails, calls, virtual and face-to-face presentations and interaction that reflect consistent and effective sales activities.
o   Present and demonstrate our health insurance solutions to university administrators, international student offices, and related departments. 
o   Collaborate with universities to customize insurance offerings based on their needs.
o   Identify, attend and drive leads from higher ed professional association conferences and industry events as needed. Serving as the subject matter expert for all global needs.
 
Market Research & Analysis
o   Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive offerings relevant to international student health insurance.
o   Participate in regular product trainings with key partners.
o   Gather insights from university clients to continuously improve our products and services.
o   Being the subject matter expert on the current book of business, the opportunities, and challenges
o   Becoming the strategic thought leader with the ability to drive change.
 
Collaboration & Reporting
o   Develop and maintain a robust pipeline with documentation of activities in CRM.
o   Work collaboratively and professionally with cross-functional partners to achieve sales goals, assist with larger growth opportunities, and ensure clients’ needs are being met.
o   Report on sales performance, market trends, and client feedback to management, including recommendations for strategic adjustments.
 
Security
o   Comply with Shorelight Written Information Security Policy, and all other Shorelight Information Security Policies and Procedures.
o   Take responsibility for any Shorelight assets assigned to you.
o   Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to Shorelight Security.
 
Minimum Qualifications
o   Bachelor’s degree in related field  (Business, Marketing, Communications) or equivalent experience.
o   2+ years’ proven sales or similar role and experience, such as client management, brokerage, etc. ideally within the insurance industry or in a B2B capacity focusing on higher educational institutions.
o   Experience working on large complex accounts through a consultative sales process.
o   Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with university stakeholders.
o   Strong sales and negotiation skills with a track record of achieving targets.
o   Knowledge of health insurance products and regulations, especially related to international students.
o   Strong client service and problem-solving skills; flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
o   Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
o   Proficiency in Monday.com or other CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
o   Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship
o   Ability to travel frequently to conferences to represent Shorelight.
 
Preferred Qualifications
o   Background in international education or study abroad.
