Sr. Director Communications
Description
Shockwave Medical, Inc. is a pioneer in the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Shockwave Medical aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.
Description
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to identify and track internal issues or events where communication may drive business objectives, employee performance and engagement
- Ensure employees have access to critical information, including but not limited to overall business objectives, performance status, and integration updates
- Develop mechanism for employee feedback/engagement to guide ongoing employee communications strategy
- Oversee strategy for employee communication channel development from a content and performance perspective
- Manage process to continually measure and assess channels/programs to gain insights, increase effectiveness and optimize use of resources
- Collaborate with IT on the rollout and maintenance of Intranet, ensuring its strategy aligns with the Shockwave brand
- Partner with HR to organize and execute quarterly all-staff meetings and monthly manager meetings
- Oversee efforts to collect and apply employee feedback and program metrics to ensure effectiveness of messaging, programs, and channels
- Advise on appropriate communication and course of action to business unit and functional leaders
- Manage agency relationships as needed to execute on the above activities
- Work with senior leadership and J&J MedTech Communications to develop communications strategies on important business milestones
- Lead proactive and reactive issues management efforts, managing cross-functional colleagues as appropriate
- Collaborate with the brand strategy team to disseminate corporate communications through Shockwave-owned digital and social channels as appropriate
- Manage agency relationships as needed to execute on the above activities
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on communications or marketing
- 15+ years of experience with background in communications/public relations
- Agency experience in addition to in-house corporate experience is preferred
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with exceptional organizational skills
- Experience navigating change management in a matrixed organization that operates in a complex and rapidly changing, start-up environment
- Experience executing internal and executive communications initiatives to drive corporate/business objectives (e.g., town halls, intranet, and email communications)
- Proven ability to influence senior level executives and stakeholders to make a compelling case for internal communications to secure support for programming decisions/resources
- Experience developing and executing tactical plans and leading external agencies
- Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills including ability to use data and metrics to develop business cases and inform decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to understand the competitive landscape, stakeholders, trends, and socio-economic and behavioral drivers
- Experience working with internal and external partners to develop and execute initiatives
- Appreciates the impact of digital and social media and has successfully navigated that territory to support a business and a brand
- Learns new methods and technologies easily; is smart, quick, nimble
- Manages up, down, and across, bringing together the right resources to accomplish goals without relying on formal hierarchy
- Proven track record of operating within tight deadlines and delivering high quality products
- Proactive mindset with a capability to identify and seize opportunities as they arise
- Ability to work under pressure, adapts quickly, and remains flexible as circumstances dictate
Market Range: $185,000 - $273,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
