Health Information Management (HIM) Manager

Location: San Diego, California

Hourly Range: $35.136 - $58.704 (depending on experience)

The provided pay range is Metis's anticipated offer for this role. Final salary and pay level will depend on the candidate’s experience, skills, education, comparison to similar internal roles, market conditions, specific job demands, and Metis's business practices.

We Are Looking for a HIM Manager

Are you passionate about health information management and looking for an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team? We are seeking an experienced HIM Manager to join our team and oversee our health information management operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily HIM operations and ensure accurate data management.
• Develop and enforce HIM policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulations; conduct quality reviews and audits.
• Collaborate with physicians and departments for accurate documentation and coding.
• Investigate and resolve data variability issues; support EHR system implementation.
• Supervise and mentor HIM staff, including outsourced coders.
• Conduct staff training on coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
• Maintain patient health records' integrity and completeness.
• Monitor data accuracy, prepare reports, and ensure HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, business, healthcare, or related field.
• RHIT or RHIA certification; CCS preferred.
• 5+ years of HIM leadership experience; 3+ years of coding experience, including chart audits.
• Strong knowledge of HIM principles, regulations, and coding standards.
• Proficient in deploying and administering EHR systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA and privacy laws.
