Position: Patient Service Representative
Location: South Coast Gynecologic Oncology, San Diego, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Hourly Range: $21.00 -$25.00 Based on level of experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handel incoming calls for practice in a courteous, professional and timely manner.
- Responsible for patient scheduling on a daily basis for multiple providers and verification of insurance eligibility
- Handle all medical records requests and incoming faxes for the practice
- Some submission of authorizations request for follow up visits to insurances and tracking status

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of the referral and authorization process in a high-volume environment
- Thorough understanding of HMOs, PPOs, IPAs, POSs, EPOs, Medicare, and Medi-cal.
- Understanding of eligibility verification processes.
- Ability to distinguish between primary and secondary payers and identify insurance products.
- Must have organizational skills and be able to handle a high-volume workload.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with a variety of people.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, vendors, medical providers, and members of the public.
- Able to multitask and complete many different duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Must be able to work under stress when confronted with critical or unusual situations.
- Must be able to give and follow instructions explicitly.
- Demonstrates ability to exercise analytic ability.
- Read and write, verbal and written communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Prioritize, meet deadlines, and use sound judgment.
- Possesses tact, diplomacy, and understand the ethics of confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or GED.
- 1 year + experience in medical clinic processing referrals/authorizations.
- Medical Terminology required.
- EMR experience required, preferred experience with EPIC.
- Medical Assistant experience preferred, not required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
