Position Title: Oncology Nurse  

Location: South Coast Gynecologic Oncology, San Diego, CA  

Employment Type: Part-Time   

Hourly Range: Based on level of experience.  

 

South Coast Gynecologic Oncology is seeking a dedicated Oncology Nurse to join their leading team, focusing on innovative care in gynecologic oncology. The role involves administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, leading nursing care for patient comfort and well-being, and participating in the clinical operations of a 4-6 chair infusion suite with autonomy and clinician collaboration. Key Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinate out-patient care and act as a liaison between the provider, family and office team.
  • Set up and administer chemotherapy, fluids, and other medications via venous access consistently following the “five rights.”
  • Chemotherapy dose checks and monitoring lab values for administration
  • Administer injectables (SQ/IM)
  • Monitor side effects to chemotherapy and other medications and recognize potential drug interactions.
  • Access central catheters (PORTS/PICC)
  • Triage patient calls to ensure patients receive a timely response. Forward urgent issues to providers.
  • Educate patients regarding chemotherapy, labs, procedures, symptoms, medications, and other information as needed.
  • Review incoming lab, imaging and procedure results. Forward abnormal results to providers.

  

Requirements:  

  • Associate degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
  • Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Valid State licensure as a RN in California.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual abilities are an asset.

  

Preferred:  

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • OCN Certification preferred
  • At least 2 years in outpatient oncology nursing
