About the Role
We are hiring a Compliance Coordinator – Subsidy & Market to join our Chicago Leasing Team. This role sits within our Compliance Department and is responsible for ensuring every residential lease submission meets quality, accuracy, and regulatory standards across both our subsidized (CHA) and market-rate portfolios.
This position has a meaningful support and coordination component: you will serve as a key point of contact for the Compliance Manager, providing regular status updates, tracking deadlines, and flagging outstanding items to keep compliance workflows on schedule. Essential Functions
- Review and approve residential lease submissions across subsidized (CHA) and market-rate units, ensuring all documentation meets internal quality standards and Fair Housing regulations (Federal, State, and Local)
- Process and audit CHA subsidy applications to ensure proper program guidelines are followed
- Verify accuracy of proof of income and conduct employment verifications as required
- Manage lease application workflow from initial submission through final approval, flagging errors and processing corrections
- Support the Compliance Manager with regular check-ins, status updates, and deadline tracking — surfacing issues and keeping open items moving
- Coordinate with Leasing, Resident Services, Retention, Accounting, and Maintenance teams to resolve compliance issues
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance procedures and recommend process enhancements to the Compliance Manager
- Assist with audits, reporting, and other projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Excel and Word used daily)
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management/CRM software is a plus
- Familiarity with CHA programs, HUD guidelines, or affordable housing compliance is preferred — we will train the right candidate
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive communicator with strong written and verbal skills; comfortable providing updates and following up on open items
- Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Basic math proficiency
- Regular, predictable, full-time attendance required
