Description

SEWS - Farmington Hills, Michigan Office.  Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.  Associates are required to work at least two days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

Basic Purpose:
  
To lead the Advanced Purchasing team in support of all Wire Harness Business Units to support new program launches.  
Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Lead and support the advanced procurement of new components for all prototype builds in manufacturing.
  • Support NABU new program launches with bill of material cost reduction activities by established Program Cost Reduction Roadmap actions which may involve cross functional activities.
  • (NABU) Establish New Program Launch Supplier Kick-off meetings.
  • Purpose is to communicate new program information, vehicle builds, timing, volume, advanced BOM information to support supplier upfront capacity planning activities and share SEWS program expectations.
  • (NABU) Support the procurement of critical non-registered components in support of all preproduction builds as directed by New Program Launch Team.
Management Duties:  
  • Oversee the Advanced Purchasing team, address proper workload balance and maintain consistent communication both inside the department and outside.
  • Monitor and develop KPIs to manage deliverables and assess overall team performance.
  • Develop, monitor and manage department budget.
  • Report team activities to upper management, Business Units and functional leadership as necessary.
  • General performance management and personnel guidance and oversight.
 
Organizational Relationships:  
  • Interaction with suppliers when escalation from AP Buyers is required to expedite components.
  • Interaction with Business Units to support new program activities
  • Interaction with cross-function groups such as Procurement, manufacturing to support new program requirements
Position Requirements:  
  • BS/BA Business or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years purchasing/procurement management experience.
  • Negotiation skills
  • MS Office proficiency
